People want everything that's going in though. You want 400 mods in your game? Time to get busy and help make CBash a reality. Want flawless mod installation across multiple game copies? Yep, that needs testing too. Someone has to do the programming, someone has to test it, and it's generally best if that's not the same person or even the same team.I can't stress this point enough - if nobody uses CBash, it never gets fixed. Yet you just wait, everyone who can't get their 400 mod load orders working will blame Bash for it. Damned if they do, damned if they don't, which is why I've been very strongly advocating that CBash NOT be turned back off again. If they decide to turn it back off again and let things fester like that for another 6 months I'll just stop offering my time to help test it. There won't be much point because then they'll just be too damned afraid to ever re-enable it again.Folks also need to be aware that there *ARE* broken mods out there that the mod authors need to get off their asses and fix. Bash is good, but it's not meant to be band-aids for bad mods.I think sometimes folks forget that in development, there comes a time when you have to tell the dinosaurs who are holding you back to go get bent.

Also, some of the download sites need to clean up a few of the broken mods that the authors haven't been heard from in years. I mean, why exactly is "Cheydinhall Pet Shop" still on there? It's famously broken, and the person that made it hasn't been around since like 2007.

That mod has been reported to the staff numerous times to my knowledge as being dangerously broken, WITH proof, even from the CS Wiki, that what the mod changes will break the game. They apparently don't care unless it's kiddie porn or a stolen mod.

Which is why I advocate for simply releasing a new version. Truth of the matter is that there won't be enough people to test until it's a full release. I'm not suggesting that Cbash be turned off. As a matter of fact, Waruddar and I had a very long discussion about my options for fixing the 3rd party mod support in Oblivion XP and one of them involved releasing separate patches for each mod that would only be mergeable via Cbash. The truth of the matter is is that in my case, I use WB in such a limited fashion that I'm not going to uncover much anyway. I guess I can grab the latest SVN though, all the same.I can understand Nexus not wanting to get into evaluating the functionality of mods, unfortunately.

Well, yes. However, they could still do some house cleaning once in a while. Like say, removing files that don't show any activity after a certain amount of time or something. Granted, some people upload some mods that are only meant for a handful of people, but a short time is alll that should be necessary there.Due to the capabilities of my machine, I have to be more...choosy...about what mods I install, so I really couldn't give any usefull information about CBash.

Heresy! No, but seriously, that's not really a good idea. Tastes and fashions change, today's hot mod can be tomorrow's dud, today's pariah can evolve into the greatest mod ever to inhabit an esp.

So WTF. What's with the sudden rise of people getting bitchy about crash on exit bugs again? And why the hell aren't they taking the advice to use fast-exit 2? Worse yet, why do people insist that it's a hack when it actually makes the game do what it should have been doing all along? Even Bethesda silently acknowledged this when Fallout 3 incorporated a proper fast exit.Getting sick of this shit, half tempted to just abandon all these dolts to their fates or something.

Where are you seeing all this? I don't even bother with the Skyrim forum! And I admit I don't read every thread on the mods forum.Arthmoor, I think you need to get more selective in what you read before you have a stroke! :biggrin:Don't ignore my posts though - or I'll yell at you again

Largely from people on the UOPS comments at Nexus. I seem to attract an undue amount of people who insist that fast-exit 2 is a horrible hack and that it just covers up real problems. The real problem of course is that Bethesda fucked up and didn't use proper code to just save the ini and exit the game.Ignore what posts?

No, I was saying that you need to be more selective in what you read, so you should skip some posts. And I was saying that if you start skipping posts, don't skip mine :biggrin:But yeah, the UOPS does seem to be a troll magnet. Too bad you can't shut the comments off. They want help, they can post on Beth. Funny how Beth isn't the troll magnet Nexus is, hmmm?

Maybe theirs some truth to the saying that the more rules you make, the more trolls you generate? I guess I'll just ignore anyone who brings that issue up again.

Well at least Nexus is supposed to remove the negative endorsements soon. And Beth does have the benefit of not having to deal with users being able to upload stuff, so they don't need to worry about having to moderate that aspect as well.

Poking through NPCs for a TIE update, I'm noticing an awful lot of NPCs who should be out visiting other cities but I don't ever remember them out there on the roads. Perhaps they're all dead? :P

Yeah.... seems likely. Oblivion is ridiculously dangerous for NPC's

It would appear that I inadvertently sicked the Oblivion XP users on you, Arthmoor. :blink:Sorry about that! I keep an eye on your thread and if I see them post, I'll jump in and say you're working on it. Might be nice to get some of them to test it for you!

Don't worry about it. They're not going to drive a release out any faster than I'm ready for anyway :P

I'm probably missing the joke, but at what point does he get gunned down while striding confidently out of prison, while at the same moment Harrison Ford is rocking a bunch of dudes on an airplane? Because Mr. House appears to have been replaced by that guy.

Eh?That's Hugh Laurie of "House" and "Blackadder" fame.

I got the House reference on the TV side. I'm the opposite of Dwip I guess in that I've never played F:NV so don't understand the significance in the game.

Mr. House is one of the main faction heads (sort of) in F:NV.I thought it might be a House reference, but to me he looks more like the evil dictator dude from Air Force One, so...

Oh, well I couldn't tell you one way or the other with Air Force One. I don't remember the evil dictator guy.

I note we have a WoT thread, but:While not wholly without merit (Jason Isaacs as Taim I can get behind, a couple others), most of that is just...yeah, what?I'm not sure who I'd cast as the three boys, but not whoever those people are.[edit] Hrm. Nicole Kidman as Morgase is pretty pro. Judi Dench amuses me as well. Paul Bettany as pretty much anybody, though maybe he'd be a better Mat than Gaul. Kind of wasted as Gaul. Liam Neeson WOULD make a good Bashere, though Liam Neeson would probably make a good anybody. Alternately Gareth Bryne. John Rhys-Davies as Bayle Domon FTW, also Danny Trejo as Uno.A lot of the lesser cast are pretty good. Just the main ones are whack.
