Maybe I'm not getting enough sleep because I meant to say 'Maybe you're mixing it up the Vault 19 (big above ground prison) with Correctional Facility. 'Oops. I mean the above ground one, not the underground one.Anyway...Civ 4. Romans. I feel a bit like I'm cheating when I play as them on the world map, conquer all of Europe and then race ahead of everyone because you have the most resource rich land in the world. But that aside, I really love the real world maps because I can think of all my military campaigns as the real thing.

The last time I did any quests in the correctional facility was also during the Neolithic. It's been a while. And yeah, the Civ 4 world map is pretty great. If you want, I'll toss you my version, which takes the standard one and adds random start locations and a few other minor edits I have now forgotten. I dig it for the replay value. I have a few other things I did besides that (like a giant mod), but that's my favorite.Rome is pretty great kind of period, although all things being equal I really, really like starting in China or India.Meanwhile, while I'm sure Arabia would have loved to have started a war with me over that whole "friends with Siam" thing, my words were, in fact, backed by nuclear weapons (many of them), not to mention the giant death robots. And the rocket artillery. And the stealth bombers. Mother Russia may only have three cities, but they're the buffest three cities you ever did see. And, relevent to me winning just now, the most cultured.

This *IS* a modding site you know. Civ mods wouldn't be unwelcome as a category if you guys want to upload them here.

I'd be keen to see that map.Speaking of words being backed by nuclear weapons, China decided to go loot out the Egyptians who amongst other things, were one of my closest allies. And surrounded by my vassals. And moreover, I had ten nuclear weapons and a fleet full of aircraft carriers and loaded submarines and missile cruisers and a large fleet of bombers and two hundred mechanized infantry. China had infantry, cannons and no aircraft. In other words, it was a very short war and ended with the nuclear annihilation of tens of millions Chinese civilians.

Sitting in the downloads section. Forgot to mention that it's for Beyond the Sword. I'm pretty sure the only change you'd need to make to make it compatable with vanilla Civ 4 is to open it up in Notepad, change the version number, and change the file extension, but I may be wrong as it's been forever since I tried. Also, if you don't have BtS, what the hell are you even doing.

I've got BtS, thanks to your advice. I'll give it a try as soon as I finish stomping on/nuking the aztecs in my current game.

Do feel free to throw them a couple of nukes from me. Also if you happen to nuke that asshole Mansa.Boy is Civ 5's Mongol scenario lazy as hell. Apparently, 5 minutes of XML hacking to change the leader of India to not be Gandhi (800 years off), the leader of Japan to not be Oda Nobunaga (300 years off), the leader of Persia to not be Darius I (WTFOMGLOL years off), and the leader of Arabia to not be Harun al-Rashid (400 years off), or for that matter the leader of China to not be Wu Zetian (500 years off) was just too hard for them. Hilariously, the hacked up Greeks and Siamese that they repurposed got new XML, but the easy XML they didn't even bother with. And people diss on Bethesda for being lazy.

No, I stole 45% (the worthwhile 45%) of Mansa's empire instead and made him my vassal. And because he doesn't like me, unlike my other vassal's I don't give him tech and resources so while most of my allies as modern armor and nukes nowadays, he's stuck with a (small) army of rifle men. I like to think of it as a more fitting punishment.

That mostly works, though I tend to believe that the only fitting punishment for Mansa is death.See also: Gandhi. That dick.

They distinctly warn you in the Civ Encyclopedia that Ghandi is normally peaceful but sometimes warmongering. I must be unlucky because he always seems to be of the war mongering type whenever I meet him. Not as bad as Montezuma though. In every single on of the traditional Earth maps I play he conquers the American's, but in the process over expands so badly he can't keep up his research rate and yeah, I end up steamrollering his riflemen with modern armour and casually nuking the larger stacks. Twice for good measure. btw, You haven't done something to the number of barb states with this map by any chance, have you? Because I've seen three and I'm fifteen minutes into the game (I like lots of barb states, for that matter).

Not that I'm aware of. IIRC, it just sort of loves to spawn them. And Gandhi was always pretty passive/aggressive with me. We're cool, we're cool, we'r...O HAY I BILT THIS ARMEE DIEDIEDIE.At least in Civ 5 he's pretty peaceful about his life. As opposed to Monty, who hasn't yet figured out that warrior rushing me just isn't the choice of a new generation.

Not completely, just all of the background graphics is all. Sort of wonder if the drive serving the static content punched out or something.

Has anyone noticed that people claiming that Steam Workshop will become the dominant mod hosting site in the tes modding community accuse Nexus of deliberately promoting sex/anime mods on its front page in order to attract more visitors.

They accuse Nexus of what it's been doing for years? Say it ain't so!I doubt very much that anything other than pure user inertia will drive people to the Steam Workshop over going to some other site.

Well, what actually worries me about all the anime porn mods that get plastered up on the front page is that the reason they are there is because they have such a large following. A silent following, but still. And god help us if Beth somehow conceives that this is proof that people would prefer them to make a JRPG (not that I'm paranoid or anything). The point these people try to make with that though is that by doing this nexus makes it harder for 'serious' mods to compete and therefore Steam Workshop will become more popular with 'serious' modders because it gives them better publicity. Which is odd because I don't think I've ever heard anyone complaining about the anime mods making it hard for their 'serious' mods to get any attention.

Actually people complain about that a lot. Usually happens more in the private modders forum, but there's plenty of people who have raised issue with the anime-porn drowning out the good stuff.

User inertia is what gets the sex/anime mods up there. Technically, TesNexus has an "adult" sections which includers everything from Robert and Exnem's bodies to full on porno mods. Claudia's Little Secret is the top mod of all time, followed by HGEC, UOP is 5, BOSS 6, Bash 10.

Someone asked me on the Open Cities comments why it wasn't in the top 100 since he thought it the best gameplay mod on the site. I told him it didn't have enough endorsements. I wanted to say it was because the NPCs aren't naked enough, but I figured that might have been pushing my luck :P

I'm also glad Robert's came with an uncircumcised option; it's nice to be able to take a screenshot of my nordic warrior and have him arse-naked except for his boots on top of a mountain, it amuses, and nude is better than any of the underwear options, vanilla or otherwise. What upsets me, however, is the sheer amount of time and effort that goes into these mods, especially the profusion of bikini armours and sex mods, but not into (say) standard armours and mods that add, for example, new activities for NPC's to do.I mean, getting on for six years and no one has done an animation of someone washing, or pouring a pint, or eating with cutlerly, using a spinning wheel or loom... It's depressing, and it actually caused Helborne (among others) to quit active modding, which is just a sin.
