Hello LOOT users,

I am very new to modding and chose Fallout New Vegas as a starting point. That said, I've installed LOOT and it runs wonderfully, however, I am unable to download the Masterlist as I don't know how to set up a correct install path. I know that it needs to be "supplied," but I have no idea how to do that. One Readme, numerous google searches, and a couple hours later, and I still haven't found an explanation on how to do this. The specific error code I get is listed below, if that helps.

  • [17:52:10.012073] [warning]: Chromium console message: Styling master document from stylesheets defined in HTML Imports is deprecated, and is planned to be removed in M65, around March 2018. Please refer to https://goo.gl/EGXzpw for possible migration paths.
  • [17:52:10.103538] [warning]: Blocking load of resource at https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Roboto+Mono:400,700|Roboto:400,300,300italic,400italic,500,500italic,700,700italic
  • [17:52:11.214963] [warning]: No masterlist present at C:\Users\Zachery\AppData\Local\LOOT\FalloutNV\masterlist.yaml
  • [17:52:14.875220] [error]: Exception while executing query: Given masterlist path "C:\Users\Zachery\AppData\Local\LOOT\FalloutNV\masterlist.yaml" does not have a valid parent directory.
  • [17:52:14.901335] [error]: Chromium console message from http://loot/ui/js/handlePromiseError.js at line 14: Error: Oh no, something went wrong! You can check your LOOTDebugLog.txt (you can get to it through the main menu) for more information.    at onFailure (http://loot/ui/js/query.js:43:16)

I don't know if this is the right place for this question, but I don't know where better to ask, so I apologize if this is misplaced noise. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Weird, this is one of those errors that should never happen. Does "C:\Users\Zachery\AppData\Local\LOOT\FalloutNV" exist?

It does not exist. I'm not terribly computer literate, so I don't know what that means, other than it did not install properly.

Does the LOOT directory exist?

Assuming that I have the correct definition for directory, this is where it's located:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout New Vegas\LOOT

Oh, sorry, no that doesn't exist. It looks like it's only location under Users is this:

C:\Users\Zachery\Documents\Nexus Mod Manager\loot

It doesn't have a folder in AppData

@victoremc95

Those posts were not directed at you. wrinklyninja did not ask you if that folder existed, but he asked Qnanas. And Qnanas answered wrinklyninja, and didn't ask you if you have NMM installed.

Your problem is , as mentioned, covered by issue 882.

@Qnanas

If you enter %localappdata% as your explorer path (where normally things like C:\Windows or C:\Program Files are), you see no LOOT folder there (so in C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\Local ) ?

Where did you get the debug log you posted earlier from?

Sorry, turns out I'm just an idiot. I guess I was searching for it incorrectly in my file explorer.

  • C:\Users\Zachery\AppData\Local\LOOT

It was generated here, but whenever I type exactly that into my file explorer, it comes up with "No items match your search." I don't know what's up with that. I apologize for the confusion.

And that folder doesn't have a FalloutNV folder in it?

It doesn't have any sub-folders, but it does have an empty file named "falloutnv." Here's a screenshot of the LOOT folder:

That's bizarre, delete the falloutnv file and try running LOOT again, I guess it should work then. I wonder how that file got created? I should probably add checks to ensure the path is a directory...

That's fixed it, thank you so much for your help!

Could people give this build a test? I've made a few updates to the UI implementation and while the testing I've done suggests everything is fine, I'm not very good at finding problems. There shouldn't be any noticable change compared to earlier builds, the changes were all about improving the development workflow.

Damn, somehow I screwed up the UI bundling without realising it...

While testing that build (nothing out of the ordinary so far), I've just saw @alt3rn1ty's issue from a few weeks ago, but with Inigo.esp instead of DynDOLOD.esp. For me it was with the very last plugin in my load order aswell (as was DynDOLOD for alt3rn1ty), so I would think that this is a factor for this bug to happen. It happened for me, after I switched to SSE within LOOT and updated the masterlist (for the 1st time). LOOTDebugLog.txt did not include anything worth mentioned, as far as I can see. Opening Inigo.esp's editor within LOOT then instantly "fixed" that, so the missing index number did reappear through that.

Interesting... Opening the editor does cause sidebar elements to re-render (to display priorities) but it doesn't change any of the underlying data. My best guess is still a Chromium or Polymer rendering bug.
