Kayle Posted March 31, 2011 Share Posted March 31, 2011 So, as I'm getting ready to reinstall Oblivion from scratch, due to the imminent arrival of Cheydinhal Reborn, what tools do I need to get Oblivion modded up and running?I know I'll need Wyre Bash, but if I have Wyre Bash, do I need OBMM? Are there any other tools that are worth grabbing, that will make installing and managing mods easier?Also, any suggested mods are welcome, I'll be getting the Arthmoor Villages, AFK_Weye, and other assorted things from here, as well as the UOP stuff, and of Course all the UL mods. Has some install tips and a reasonably current list of what I run.IMHO, Bash is all you really need. I'm so glad that was around when I first started adding mods or I'd be totally lost.Just remember that BOSS and BASH will become your new BFF's and you can't go wrong.OBSE isn't really optional anymore. More and more mods require it, including Samsons Faregyl, so get it. And get Elys Silent Voice, an OBSE plug-in that slows down dialogue text in mods. Plus, OSR and Fast Exit. There's quite a few mod suggestions in Dwip's post. You might want to try Immersive Interiors to go along with Weather - All Natural. (I haven't tried it but Samson can tell you how nice it looks). Otherwise though BAIN 4 LIFE!Otherwise I think Dwip and Hana have you covered for installation and mod management tools.I'll be a bit vain here and recommend a mod I've worked on - ImpeREAL forts. You might want to looks at ImpeREAL City as well.Immersive Interiors is da bomb, btw.The only other things that immediately pop to mind are Alive Waters, Enhanced Economy and Less Annoying Magic Experience (aka LAME). Though you did remind me to check and make sure the UOP Supplementals were updated here - they weren't :PEven for UI mods OBMM isn't a necessity. I've got what I think is a nice mix of UI components which I packaged up as a BAIN but I haven't sought permission to redistribute the results. It's a hybrid of DarnUI and Immersive Interface with the system menu fonts left in vanilla size.Immserive Interiors is 110% awesome. Can't go wrong there, and if paired up with Animated Window Lighting System you just can't beat it.I see nobody recommended Map Marker Overhaul. That's a really good mod that is underappreciated. Otherwise I think Elven Map Compilation or the dynamic map TheNiceOne was working on are your best bets.If you're doing the magic overhaul thing, I recommend LAME, as it's treated me well.If you want more hotkeys, I'm using Super Hotkeys, which is good but has quirks. Arthmoor Posted April 3, 2011 Share Posted April 3, 2011 You're going to want to fix the install order on that. QTP3 and whatever the QTP3-R patch are will both need to be above AWLS and RAEVWD. The QTP3-R patch also needs to be BELOW QTP3 Redimized. The way you have things set up now, QTP3 Redimized is overriding everything before it.Somewhere around here was a post with the install order. They need to be listed in the right order or you'll have things overridden that you don't want overridden. Such as every last one of the AWLS meshes being blocked by QTP3 the way you have it now.They can be repositioned just as easily as the load order btw. ctrl+arrow to move a package around. Arthmoor Posted April 4, 2011 Share Posted April 4, 2011 You see the column numbered from 0 thru 11? That tells you what order BAIN installed them in. Right now, they're out of order. You will end up with the last one on the list, QTP3 Redimized, overriding everything it says it conflicts with from earlier. Meaning you won't be seeing AWLS stuff, and you won't even have the proper patches for QTP3-R in place.I'll just write up a new install order and stick it in a help article. You can use the ctrl+arrow keys to reposition the packages in the list, then right click somewhere and do an "anneal all" and BAIN will figure out the rest.
