[WiPz:Oblivion] Pelinal Abbey

Simply put, this started out as my speculative attempt at what a First Era Chapel might look like after the defeat of the Ayleids (hence the name), as the project progressed I decided I wanted to stick it somewhere forgotten and out of the way. Then along came Snowdale and my prayers were answered. The Abbey Hall is at the foot of the mountain on the border with Skyrim and the Abbey itself is on the top of the mountain, I have no idea how many thousand steps it takes to get up there.Made entirely out of retextured objects modifyied in Nifscope and this: http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=17179&navtag=file/images.php?id=17179&tab=3 which I also modified and generally abused.Update:Architechture is pretty much done, one or two hacked nifs need tweaked UV's, I need to get rid of a couple of vanilla bits and one or two other touch ups - About 50% of the NPC's are done, the rest are already in my head and now they need to go into the mod. Currently though, this is still a "Quest location without a quest" I'm going to write some dialogue about the Abbey do a couple of books and maybe have the monks elaborate of what they think Everwinter Valley is.See end of thread for new screens

That's pretty cool.

Also' date=' not that I have a use for it, but that house resource looks pretty great.[/quote']Thanks, the house resource was only a starting point really, the vanilla version is ho-hum, I had to build the loft ad-hoc and change the texture paths from the duplicate ones they used to vanilla ones. It's very strange, someone went through and copied all the vanilla textures and put them in a seperate folder.

Good God, it's not the 7000 steps is it?? :lol:That looks very impressive and pretty slick. (is there some reason you duplicated links for the pics?)Not sure what you mean about "along came Snowdale".... is this dependent on it?

Not sure what you mean about "along came Snowdale".... is this dependent on it?[/quote']Honestly, the links got duplicated because photobucket crapped out on me the first time, so some of the screenshots got uploaded twice. I was too bed up with the thing to tidy it up, so there you go.Currently this is dependant on Snowdale, the Hall is actually at the edge of Everwinter Valley. That was how I found the spot to begin with, everywhere else was already populated with NPC's from Vanilla or mods I have! I expect I can make a non-Snowdale version, but honestly it wouldn't look anywhere near as good, you'd just stumble on this random building in the backwoods with a stairway behind it. Right now I just plan to finish and release it with some monks tottering around. I don't have any big plans for it.

Odd that this is now the second mod in making that I've heard of that will be specifically dependent on a UL mod.Not sure I like that trend, but just my opinion (not aimed at you, Sigurd, just in general).

It's not that surprising, vanilla Oblivion is crowded, modded Oblivion is overcrowded. Unique Landscapes provides open spaces by "only" changing the landscape. It was really this or all the way over in Skyrim. In any case, if I par out snowdal I'll just have to move the Hall, not the Chapel, I have both seperately backed up in an interior cell anyway.

It's not DLC dependant, it's Unique Landscapes dependant, and in any case I will eventually make a non-UL version, but it will probably place the hall in a seperate location entirely.

Some new screens, big change is new window mesh - just a flat plane with a texture, but it works and because I tiled them they sort of catch the light the way I was hoping, totally unintended.th_AbbeyTower.pngth_AbbottsRoom.pngth_AisleWindows.pngth_Basement.pngth_DomeRoof.pngth_DoortoTower.pngth_DoortoUndercroft.pngth_Library2.pngth_Library.pngth_Monksandretextureddoor.pngth_Newsteps.pngth_OnEnteringtheAbbey.pngth_SleepingQuarters.pngth_Stairs.pngth_UndergroundSheepfoly.pngth_ViewOverCyrodil.pngth_WestWindow.png
