Idoldissr Posted January 27 Posted January 27 I got the same error with v.313 and with v.312.1 while just beginning to mod a new playthrough. Wrye Bash encountered an error. Please post the information below to the official thread at https://afkmods.com/index.php?/topic/4966-wrye-bash-all-games or to the Wrye Bash Discord at https://discord.gg/NwWvAFR Traceback (most recent call last): File "bash\bash.py", line 425, in main File "bash\bash.py", line 573, in _main File "bash\basher\__init__.py", line 4344, in Init File "bash\basher\__init__.py", line 4371, in InitData File "bash\bosh\__init__.py", line 2199, in __init__ bash.exception.FileError: Oblivion.esm: File is required, but could not be found
lmstearn Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Hi, @Idoldissr, after 8 years, your first post! Is Oblivion in a protected directory like Program Files? You might want to check folder access, running WB as admin might help as well.
Idoldissr Posted February 1 Author Posted February 1 Thanks for the response. I had it installed in its own folder on C:, but when I clicked obse_loader.exe I got that error. I finally realized that I needed to do a complete system-wide uninstall of everything 'OBLIVION', so I could start completely fresh. I used Revo uninstaller to wipe everything from my Drives and am, as I write this, in process of rebuilding the game. The game opens and runs like it should now. I'm going to use the "Oblivion Painted World" mod collection as a template this time around... installing the set manually and picking & choosing some as I go. Sometimes I think I get more enjoyment building the game than actually playing it. LOL. By-the-way, just so you know, I've tried all of the mod managers available... and Wrye Bash always comes through for me... I've used it exclusively (except for certain tes4 mods that work better with OBMM) for years. To me, MO2 has too much of a learning curve, and vortex left me confused. Just thought you'd like to know... Thanks for all your labor of love! Blessings to you, sir. lmstearn 1
