UFO4P breaks Nuka-World

Recommended Posts

Starting a new game with UFO4P breaks Nuka-World NPC's, dialog and quests.

First noticable example is being unable to talk to NIRA or any market traders except for Mackenzie.

How to reproduce this bug: Using only UFO4P and F4SE installed, start a new game, choose between Nate/Nora and just player.moveto NIRA. She won't have any dialog interactions with the player.

Without UFO4P and starting a new game, everything works fine. Test this with player.moveto NIRA. NIRA will greet the player correctly.

NO OTHER MODS WERE USED. ONLY UFO4P AND F4SE.

The only way around this issue is starting a new game without UFO4P. If you install UFO4P AFTER you start a new game and save, everything should work properly. Again, this bug occurs if you start a new game WITH UFO4P installed.

Before you say something like player.moveto causes w/e un-intended effects, I also progressed to Nuka-World by normal means and had the same problem (which is how I ran into the problem in the first place).

Was reported, but someone said it wasn't an issue... even though there are literally dozens of players having the same exact issue. Mackenzie being the only interactable NPC, NIRA has no dialog, blah blah.

We are aware of this and it has been fixed pending our next update. Waiting on Bethesda to do their CC update before we go forward with that.

Hey, will the next update be able to fix saves which have the problem already ? (vendors etc will start to talk again)

I also have a save just before going to nuka.

Oh and...

- Any way to quick fix it with console commands ?

Unfortunately it seems that the new patch doesn't fix the issue with talking to traders in Nuka-World on existing saves. I have an existing save, started the new mod, and still have the issue. Anyone else having this issue?

Unless something is blocking it from being addressed there's no reason to expect the fix won't work. We have in fact tested it under the expected conditions and found that the quest will start up just fine with the retro scripts we included for that purpose.

If it doesn't for you, we need your save to check it with.

Any chance this got broken again with next gen update? Started a fresh download/game/save and this happened today

No. This is not broken and hasn't been since the 2019 update.

I made an account to relay that I also have this problem. I have other mods but no other mod has been reported as ever causing this. I'm using it on console, maybe it's a console problem. Before the PS5 upgrade I see people reporting this as soon as 2 months ago on reddit.

You cannot talk to N.I.R.A, a large chunk of non-Raider NPCs, or anyone in the market.

I had a fresh save, with this mod already on and they won't speak.

I tried loading a save, from before nuka world, and disabled the mod. They still won't speak.

I haven't been able to test with a fresh, pure save.

I think it's at least worth looking into...

We have. This comes up regularly, but we fixed it in 2019. I'm not sure what more people expect us to do given that it's been fixed.

If it genuinely comes up regularly, it sure sounds like it's fixed...

It's also usually because the person reporting it was using an old version of the patch or are using it on an ancient save that predates the fix. The fix is NOT retroactive so if your save is ancient then there you go.

I said it was a fresh save. It was the PS4 version of the patch that was available a week or so prior to the PS5 upgrade coming out, fresh save. That save then transfered to ps5. Nothing was old. I downloaded and updated all the mods I wanted before starting the new file.

If my case is niche, alright, I'll just not be a good guy during nuka world.

There was a brief time period where the unofficial patch was removed because it didn't work for the PS5 version yet (like 2-3 days). Idk if that was it but I'd imagine not

Has anyone else noticed that the common denominator in all of these UOP breaks Nuka World threads is a Playstation?  Maybe the UOP isn't the problem?  Maybe the root cause of the problem is Sony and their ridiculous restrictions?

Why aren't Sony's users invading Sony's website, harassing Sony and Kenichiro Yoshida with their incessant complaining using a thread titled Sony breaks UOP

Maybe the problem is that Playstation users are incapable of admitting to themselves that they may have chosen the wrong platform?

"I think it's at least worth looking into..."

Arthmoor, I would not blame you or the UOP team if you took the decision to drop support for Playstation entirely.  Some mod makers; myself included, have already dropped support for Sony and Playstation.  Now our only dealings with the Playstation user community is blocking them when they come into our sites to complain about how we are horrible people for not wanting to deal with Sony and Sony's user community.

Certainly tempting, but the problem isn't necessarily Sony since the bug being reported has been fixed already 5 years ago. Yes, there was a delay in being able to get updates to Playstation for awhile but that was Bethesda's website causing issues with that.

As far as looking into it, we have. Numerous times. The fix we implemented is still in place. Nothing changed there. "Well you need to fix it" isn't going to change that, cause we'd fix it by doing exactly what was already done. There is no other way.

It's a bit elitist imo to blame the PS5 users for the thing you broke still being broken. With that stance you're saying its their fault because the fix to potentially your own issue doesn't work for them. This works without the mod being installed. I have zero visibility into what originally caused it or what fixed it. All I know is what I experienced and I wanted to relay.

I agree that mod support is dogswill on PS4/PS5. I have PC, but I'm playing on PS5 just from convenience. PS5 doesn't allow for audio and new scripts, correct? So was the fix readding audio/scripts that had been removed with a previous iteration? That would make sense.

I'd play on Xbox but they'd have to actually get some games on there first. I'd rather play this from the comfort of my couch so, PS5. How does Xbox buy every AAA studio in existence but be lacking in exclusives? They got screwed with Redfall, I ain't stepping into that platform. The mod support for Bethesda games didn't sell me on the Xbox.

PC, I get it, but just from a convenience factor I decided to play a new save on console.

I agree with dropping PS4/5 support as it causes problems that can't or won't be addressed apparently. I honestly didn't think this was gonna be drama. I was trying to bring awareness so someone else doesn't get screwed.

I didn't say anyone was horrible but you came at me like I was Satan for pointing out a flaw so, do with that as you will.

I was discounted, blamed for causing it (as user error), and then blamed for having a ps5. Logically, from this perspective, I guess I should've known this wasn't going to work before installing. But then I'd ask why's its even up there. However, I don't think that's a fair stance to have, things should be more constructive.

Edit: There was a patch today that apparently addresses mod conflicts with dlc. I'll try it later and if it resolved it, I'll update this comment. If not, have a great one.

Look. You may not realize it, but the issue you're talking about is vanilla. We fixed it in 2019. There's nothing more to be said here. If you want to keep blaming us for that, we can't stop you. Just know that you're doing so from a badly misinformed position. If Bethesda wants to fix this, that's great, but until they do, you'll just have to live with it being an issue in your game. And make no mistake, regardless of what you're going to insist is reality after this, it is THEIR MISTAKE, not ours. Just like matswaps were THEIR mistake, not ours, despite how many people apparently want to blame us for that too.

All you are doing is making it clear that Scythe is ultimately right and that Playstation support in any fashion is no longer worth the extra work we're putting in right now to keep it going. All we end up with is people blaming us for things the platform itself causes.

This topic is done. I'm locking it now.
