The Wormple
I've noticed this problem with a lot of different Skyrim textures; beards and reindeers are just some of the examples. When opening the textures in GIMP the alpha channel dominates the most of the texture and it is impossible to edit it. In DDS viewer: Beard Reindeer In GIMP: Beard Reindeer In GIMP after removing alpha channel / flattening image: Beard Reindeer Saving the file as a jpg instead of dds, removes the alpha channel entirely so it is possible to edit the texture, but it is obviously not a very good solution. Doing a general recolor of the texture as it is, will because of the alpha channel only edit the part of the texture that is not covered by the alpha. I can't find a solution to this, and it must be possible somehow.
Hana
According to the GIMP docs, you can remove it in the Image menubar through Layer > Transparency > Remove Alpha Channel. Or, other recommendations are to "Flatten Image".
The Wormple
Tested several times already, and the result is that everything covered by the alpha channel disappears with it. Pics added in first post.
