lmstearn
Did Bethesda rollback the 1.9 fix for half-naked couriers? Symptoms: In Markarth, the (fully clothed) courier delivered a note to me just around the corner from the Silver-Blood Inn. He's been there for days now, but now, wearing nothing but the regulation loincloth. Disable/enable has his clothes back on. Kill, and he staggers, with his upper torso half-buried in the rocks. Resurrect, and he continues to wait. Resetai, and he starts to walk, but is halted, as if by an invisible wall. And "Nope, Sorry, Nothing" is the alpha & omega of conversation. He wouldn't leave after 5 days in Markarth, but... Cure: Fast travelling to 3 distant location, saving, reloading. and returning- he's gone. Not a big drama, but kinda spoils the game a bit. 2nd edit: "Cough" it might be a glitch in the saved game. All this occurred after "No One Escapes Cidnha Mine", and Thonar's ash pile disappeared only after a few hours. Hathrasil (with a little bird) was suspended halfway up the wooden structure next to the smelter. The reward for going through the main door to Markarth was a black screen. No problem with fast travel into there. Once again, the fast traveling for three days, return, save & reload, and all is well in the world. 3rd edit: No fast traveling, but did a little morning shopping in Markarth, and all the bugs gone anyway. Still can't get my head around this... multithreading?
BlackPete
I don't think these guys disappear until you leave the city for a while, as it sounds like you've discovered. This is from personal observation in the game.
