Congratulations are in order for Nexus, DarkOne, and the entire Nexus staff, with Nexus hitting 3 major milestones!  They've reached 50 million registered users, added their 3,000th supported game to the site, and are celebrating their 23rd anniversary.

So Many Milestones

And despite the differences over the years, and especially recently, it is still a tremendous achievement, and they all deserve a lot of credit.  It would certainly be hard nowadays to imagine modding without Nexus.

No, congratulations are not in order.  Condemnation is in order.  Accomplishments achieved in spite of; and at the expense of, the wishes of mod makers (NexusMods only real source of income) are nothing to celebrate.  They are a cause for shame.

Further, there are many who imagine modding without NexusMods, who practice it and live it.  Communities exist for mod makers who eschew NexusMods and their tolerance for mod theft by releasing their mods on Xbox only.  Communities which support those who no longer wish to submit to NexusMods possessive Terms of Service.  Communities which support those who learned too late that Dark One (Robin Scott) was lying to mod makers for over a decade, having sworn that mods deleted from his site no longer existed on the site.

One and a half cheers over here, sure they have made errors, all of which stem from the desire to either make a quid or please everyone, which always gets some folks offside no matter what.

There are a few very able and conscientious personnel over there so hats off to those at least, and, like this site, lights still on after all these years. :)

As we generally prefer freedom of speech I'm going to allow some dissenting opinions here. However, note that this is what I consider the limit of expressing a reasonable opinion on this matter.

Well those are nice achievements I suppose, but they have them without my support.  I closed my account with them earlier this year and will not use or support the site anymore.  Just a personal choice, but I have my reasons.

I do recall simpler times, back when I was getting mods for Morrowind and Dragon Age Origins and such.  Loved the site back then.
