Altbert
It is working for me without any problem. Could you make the raised bottom a different BSTriNode? I had to lower the large box beneath a white marble pedestal, to make certain items better visible. If it is a separate BSTriNode, I could give it any texture that suits the objects I place in the display box (version 3b). If necessary I could write instructions how to use the resources (maybe in a PDF with images).

This will probably get made into a simple resource mod, so it will need a readme with foolproof instructions on how to use it. Why do I think that part is going to be even harder? Readme's are hard, we feel your pain.
ghastley
While I am separating the raised bottom, I may as well start on the other variants. I see a need for a choice of transparent or solid back, a choice of three positions for the hinge (current whole box hinged at base rear - front panel hinged at top - top panel hinged at rear). The solid back would have a wood texture on the outside, and a replaceable one on the inside, so it could hold a background image, or match the inside floor. Maybe a vertical orientation, with a front opening panel hinged like a door. That is, two units high on a one unit square base. Same solid or transparent back options. Default textures would all use the existing one, so you would only need additional dds files to change the interior surfaces.
Altbert
Great! Boxes with all glass around could be placed in the room and those with a solid back could be placed at the walls. I will look into creating a separate texture for the standard bottom of the display cases, just to get more acquainted with NifSkope, as this has also been done with the glass. Edit: Already quit trying to look into a separate texture for the bottom. Bad eye-hand coordination!! I'm getting too old for this shit! ghastley
Time for another update. ( old link removed ) This has the raised bottom panel as a separate BSTriShape, so it can be retextured. - the texture defaults to the wood one. There is a variant with a lid, instead of the whole box tilting, and that has a back panel as well as the raised bottom. Again that can be retextured, or removed, as it is a separate BSTriShape. Since you can use NifSkope to remove the panels you don't need this covers the possibilities for the horizontal case. I'm still considering the vertical one. The tricky part is using the existing texture without stretching it. Altbert
Thank you! I will start experimenting with NifSkope and show some pictures later this week of next week. Great work!
Altbert
I started using the meshes/textures, but ... did you include the wrong files? None of the cases/boxes seem to have a TriNode for the raised bottom, at least not that I can see in NifSkope.
ghastley
Textures attach to the BSTriShapes. Why do you need a NiNode?
Altbert
Sorry, my bad! I ment a TriShape, but was a bit too hasty in writing. I will look again to see if I have missed something.
ghastley
Make sure you used the new link. The …_01.7z file has the new stuff. the file without the _01 is still there. I should remove that.
Altbert
I have used the new link. I found what my problem was, just looking for the TriShapes visible in the tree, and not expeting more TriShopes in a TriNode. But it seems that only the 05 case has the possibility to change the texture of the bottom. If used to change the texture, it both changes the original bottom and the raised bottom, but that's no problem as the original bottom can't be seen. ghastley
It appears that the "bottom" panel reverted its height below the one that's part of the base, and you can't see it. And I didn't copy it into the others at all. Too much haste. http://ghastley.org/Skyrim/download/WIP/displaycases_02.7z This link is broken, use the visually identical one below. I left it here for comparison. Edited May 9 by ghastley
Altbert
Also a bit too hasty writing the link? I got a 404 Not Found error.
ghastley
http://ghastley.org/Skyrim/download/WIP/displaycases_02.7z It looks like a bug/feature(?) in the forum software, or possibly Windows rich text support. If you correct a link that it has automatically converted then the text shown is changed, but not the link itself. The one above should look identical to the broken one. However it will actually go there, not to downloads (with an s). Edited May 9 by ghastley
