Mods that add new companions, followers, and other NPCs.

  1. Tasheni's Winterdogs SE

Each farm needs a dog to protect the inhabitants and their animals. And sometimes the lonesome wanderer needs a fearless companion on four paws. Or better two. Or three?
This mod comes as is. Make a clean save before installing. Use a mod manager to install. Don’t put loose files in your data folder. You can’t
uninstall it midgame. Use at your own risk.

Tasheni’s Winterdogs with Companion Dooma. This mod adds dogs to most of the farms in Skyrim. It replaces Meeko, Stump and Vigilance and adds a companion dog named Dooma.
    The farmdogs are no companions.
Find Dooma in Winterhold at the ruins. Sometimes she wanders off, so maybe you will have to search for her. If you can't find her, she will find you, that may take a few ingame days.

If Meeko is not around his shack, find the spelltome inside the shack and summon him.
The dogs are protected, so be careful to not kill them. They will attack with you as long as they are allowed to.

Features: Meeko and Dooma will play together, if you allow them to do this. Unequip spells and weapons and talk to Dooma. They will wander off and chase each other in a large distance around the player. To stop it, talk to Meeko. Meeko and Dooma will not participate in combat if you tell them they should not or if you sneak. Both dogs come with a summon spell, in case they get lost. You can tell them to wait or wait and guard, then they take care of predators. They wait forever, if you forget them. They have no animal count, so you can take other pets with you, if you like.
Mod is not compatible with any other mod that affects Meeko. All other dog replacer will work, but you have to load them after this mod. I
highly recommend to use a mod like Barking Dogs Cure or similar. Download from nexus.

  2. Tasheni Followers - One for All and All for One SE

This mod comes as is. Make a clean save before installing. Use a mod manager to install. Don’t put loose files in your data folder. You can’t uninstall it midgame. Use at your own risk. Don’t expect a 100% bugfree mod, but it will not break your game.
Meet six indivdual confident personalities with their own past, own future, own stories. They have their own points of view and if you open yourself, you will get involved into a bigger story nobody would guess.
This is only the first part of the story. The future happenings are foreshadowed here. At the end you will get a reward.
This is a storydriven questline. You will be guided by a questlog. To learn about your followers, talk to them at taverns and player homes. But they have also dialogue at other places. They are also very nice addition if you are exploring worldspaces from other mods.
I recommend to explore everything yourself. But if you are impatient, read the article on nexus for more details:
    Follower features:
    – questlog
    – their own stories that will be uncovered while doing Skyrim quests
    – quest aware: Mainquest, Companions questline, College of Winterhold questline, some city quests, some side quests
    – three own miniquests, one is important to advance the story.
    – more than 3300 lines of dialogue
    – 46 scenes, some songs and tunes and poems. They are controled by the Story Manager and will trigger in taverns, player homes or if you unequip your weapons, sit or lay. Means, you can trigger scenes everywhere.
    – They will act together in combat and care for another. This is realized through dialogue and scenes.
    – group commands – if you have recruited all six. Talk to Sherda.
    – they sandbox in taverns and playerhomes, if you sit, lean or laydown or unequip weapons and spells
    – they change their armor to clothes at playerhomes, three different outfits for each
    – they come with their own horses
    – playerhorse Vala which carries your stuff. Use her as a mount or use her as a companion. You can talk to her and give her orders. She is very fast. If she has the speed amulet in her inventory, she galops and trotts, if the player has it in their inventory, she walks and canter.
    – map markers and summon spells, in case they get lost or you need them urgently near you. This works also if they are waiting somewhere.
    – Ramgar can lead you to several ingame locations.
    – they loot at clearable locations, if you command that. They stop looting if you start sneaking or draw a weapon or spell. If you need them close for a tough enemy, you should command them not looting first.
    – two different beginnings: Helgen Intro or Alternate Start
    – Ruby and Tom, Eldrid and Chiomara will train fighting and magic at certain hours, if you are outside somewhere and have your weapons and spells unequipped or if you are in furniture state.
Start a new game, if you want to uncover the story, not required, if you need just some followers. If you have an older version installed, you can’t update without starting a new game. All scripts have changed!
I highly recommend to go through Helgen Intro. But it’s not a hard requirement.
    What you need to know:
You need to play Skyrim mainquest, if you want to explore their own questline. The questline will split at a certain point from Skyrim’s mainquest. If you just want to have some entertainment, they are fine without the questline.
Don’t uninstall midgame. It will break your game.
Don’t dismiss them. You can’t recruit them again. Just tell them to wait somewhere, they will wait forever, if you forget them.
Don’t use AFT or EFF or else on them, they use their own framework and these mods will break their AI
You can’t give them clothes or armor. You can, if it is higher in protection, they may use it, but they will mainly wear it over their own and they will change back if you go inside a playerhome or outside from there. Ramgar or Sherda will tell you some words about it.
You can give them weapons, but this will break their story to a certain degree. They do comment about their weapons.
Follower orders menu is behind dialogue like: I have some orders for you, or I have to tell you something, on the second tier. If player dialogue is available, it will appear on the first tier. So you see it immediately and need not to go through the orders menu everytime.
You will get a message, if part one of their storyline ends. But they are still useful afterwards.
    Known bugs:
Skyrim was not made to carry a lot of followers with you. If some of them are not following from inside houses to outside, draw your fists, weapon or spell, then they should appear. If not, use group command or summon spell.
Vala may run away, if you have teleported her to you (with her ring). Use the ring again and tell her she should wait.
If the followers are not mounted immediately after you have mounted, tell Ruby or Sherda (group commands) to mount faster. This will reset the mounting quest. Then they mount and dismount very fast.
This happens mainly if you play Helgen Intro, because then the OnInit Event in the script will not fire. So talk to Ruby after you are out of the dungeon to fix that.
Sherda has no dialogue for following again, after player let her wait somewhere. I don't know why the dialogue doesn't show up. If you use the group command, to tell her all should follow, she follows again. Group command is only available, if all six followers are recruited.
The Pirate's Song breaks up after the first verse is sung, but followers are still cheering and dancing. Speak to one of them, the scene will stop immediately. I didn't had the problem in LE, so I need to figure out, why that happens.
Scenes play automatically if you are inside a tavern or at playerhomes or traveling in different regions. Part of them should only play if you unequip your weapons and spells or sit or lay down somewhere. Dialogue interrupts scenes and they are also interrupted sometimes if inside a tavern a bard is playing music or sings and the followers will turn to idle drink or clap hands state or if they are pushed. This is Story Manager specific, but if you unequip your weapons and spells every scene will be repeated randomly, so you can follow what is said. Or if you are in other worldspaces and want to have followers around that are not too quiet, just unequip weapons and spells.
If a scene is playing, wait until it’s over before you leave an interior cell.
I hope you have fun. Please notice the credits list below, without the help of a lot of people this mod would not exist.
Your comments are welcome. Please report bugs.
Thank you all for your support, without you this mod would not have come to life!

  3. Yvette Follower or Jordis Replacer - High Poly Head - 4k FaceTint - ESL

Yvette follower or Jordis the Swordmaiden replacer, both High Poly Head, 4k and ESL flagged.
    About Yvette follower:
Yvette is a sultry, trouble-maker woman. She fights best with a one-handed sword and daggers, wearing light armour. She knows healing spells, so she will try to keep you alive during combat. Yvette is protected and doesn't affect the stealth meter, so you can sneak with her where and how you want. She will also learn and level with you. Yes, she is marriable. You can find her in The Winking Skeever in Solitude.
    Race: Nord
    Weight: 100
    Location: The Winking Skeever, Solitude
    Marriable: Yes
If you want to spawn her, press "~" and write "help yvette", find her ID and then write "player.placeatme [ID]"
She has two AI Packages, which makes her a better, more 'intelligent' follower. One of the packages is made by coldsun1187. Go visit this profile, you will not regret it!
Yvette will use your in-game skin and body.
I recommend using Nether's Follower Framework and Relationship Dialogue Overhaul - RDO SE for the best experience with Yvette.
    About Jordis replacer:
Jordis' default weight is 100. If any of your mod changes that, you can encounter a neck seam.
She will use your in-game body.
Manually or with your mod manager.
    Yvette - no problems
Jordis - no problems if her plugin and textures (just the whole mod) are loaded last, her weight is 100 and you have USSEP
    Mods used:
    High Poly Head
    KS Hairdos
    Koralina's Freckles and Moles - 4k 2k
    Koralina's Makeup Tweaks - 4k 2k

  4. Guards of Skyrim - Whiterun Stables Guards

Choose the main file or the brighter barracks lighting, but not both.    This is the Whiterun Stables Guard mod that was removed from nexus.   It adds a few extra guards, two around the Whiterun Stables, and one around the main gate.  I got tired of vampires and death hounds, chewing up my merchants and the horses.  There are two shifts, and they will sandbox in the general area of their post. Like vanilla guards, they are Imperial aligned. If the Stormcloaks control Whiterun, they will be replaced by Stormcloak soldiers with the same AI packages. The guards are on post from 8-8 and sleep in an underground barracks, accessible from the outer Whiterun gate.  The beds are usable by the player. Compatibility: Affects the area around Whiterun Stables and the area just inside the main gate. The remainder is stand-alone. None of the vanilla guards have been touched.
    Cleaned with xedit

  5. The Barraks

From the creator of The Komrade Faktory: Retooled The Barraks With word of a war brewing and the prospects of new adventures to be had, the news has attracted individuals from all walks of life looking to explore a new life in Skyrim. Some seek glory, others seek riches, with the rest simply wanting to take different steps in life.
    The Goal:
These followers can be considered blank slates free of affiliation from existing TESV lore in most cases. I hope their backstories influence how you decide to use them or what you set their loadouts to. Maybe you have a huge house mod that feels empty and you'd like to give these adventurers a permanent home so they don't loiter around anymore.

    Recommended Mods:
    • Nether's Follower Framework
    • Follower Light Foot SPID

    • They level up with the player.
    • They are reactionary to locations and most things around them.
    • They are set to essential.
    • Each file is set to ESL.
    • They have an invisible helmet.

Location: The Bannered Mare                 Location: The Bee and Barb                    Location: Silver-Blood Inn

Location: Old Hroldan Inn                       Location: Dead Man's Drink

  6. Follower - Adriana SSE

    Adriana SSE
    Original Mod by Dethroned
    Face by Maeven2
Adds a new, no frills, follower to Skyrim
    Location: Temple of Mara, Riften
    Race: Imperial
    Class: Combat Warrior 1H
Equipment: Heirloom set of Blades armor and sword
    Marriageable: Yes
    Skyrim SSE/AE
    ApachiiSkyHair SSE
Q: How is this different from the original mod?
A: The original mod had a number of shortfalls. Namely, duplicate hairs would appear in Showracemenu, she is found naked, equipped only with a chef's tunic(not even wearing it). Had a not very useful combat class (archer), and no weapon at all.
She has been completely overhauled and modernized for SSE, and is now an effective and viable follower.
All updates have been done with the latest CK, tools and utilities for SSE.
Should work with all Skin\Body textures. Verified with UNP. File contains no body meshes, just a facegen and minimal assets.

  7. Swift Steeds Stables

Featuring asymmetrical and symmetrical textures by Slof
Adds six new stables to Skyrim
Each stable has at least 5 different horses to choose from
Horses are 1.5x faster than vanilla and marked essential.  They also run from danger not towards it.  Most predators will ignore them.  (I know the last is not realistic, but I like a peaceful ride. )
Cleaned with XEdit, meshes optimized with SE Nif opt
Load order: -- Load this after all horse related mods.
If you have Honeystrand Meadery -- Load that after this mod.
    new saddle by KoscheiTheDruidBoy
Adds new stables to Skyrim – Falkreath opposite the Dark Brotherhood sanctuary, outer Rorikstead (just down the road from Rorikstead going towards Whiterun), outer Dragon Bridge (down the road from Dragon Bridge towards Whiterun), Shor’s Stone, Kynesgrove, Markarth (up the hill from the farm fast travel marker is enabled from the start), Ivarstead (on the way to Riften near Imperial Camp)
This is fully compatible with More Stables, Lesser Hold Stables and Convenient Horses.   Not compatible with Immersive Horses, needs a patch for that, something I don’t have the time to make.  If someone wants to make a patch, feel free.  Just let me know so I can link it here.
No uploads to other sites without express permission.  You may not upload this mod to the Nexus so please don’t bother to ask.
There is an xbox version on Bethesda.net, and the Oldrim or Classic Skyrim version on Steam.
There are 6 free stallions and 7 free mares with their foals you can find. The added stables have clues (letters and/or journals) -- look inside the tent on the table. (if you don't see anything there, check the stable owner's chest or knapsack.) A couple of the vanilla stables have clues too -- look for a strongbox outside the stable owner's house called 'Letters'. (You can take any clues you find without stealing.)
All the mares and stallions have papers and a short explanation as to why they're abandoned. Most of them also have leveled and unique items on or near their deceased owners or deceased owner's knapsacks.
Most of the horses only have one clue, a couple have clues that lead you to more clues if you need them.
Mares and foals will follow each other and should be together. Search the area the clue indicates/states. Horses sometimes rush away from danger.
Thanks to all the wonderful modders who provide resources and tutorials
Slof for the beautiful new horse textures (Slofslair)
Rebel O'conner for remapping the vanilla mesh
Hanaisse (Tes Alliance) for the 'Creating Armor in Skyrim' tutorial and Roadsigns.
Dark Rider (Tes Alliance) for the 'My First Stable' tutorial
    Tamara for the Stroti rescources
Runspect for the Resources for Modders
    Meo for the tents
    Blary for the Open Books
BrettM for FPI Experiment pack 1
Oaristys and Tony67 Modder's Resource pack
Insanitysorrow for the Readme generator the Readme is based on
Jokerine for the blank inn sign
KoscheiTheDruidBoy -- Saddle mash up (mistickhybrid -- Horse Armors for Skyrim (textures and part of the saddle mesh) and Zira's Skyrim Horse base -- textures by Zira
And thanks to the people who make the software
Bethesda for creating Skyrim and the Creation Kit.
Blender, Paint.net, Nifscope and GIMP developers for providing free software.

  8. Diverse Guards Skyrim

It seems odd that the job of being a City Guard or Soldier is mostly only available to males (the curious exceptions being Windhelm and Riften). Furthermore, if you use a mod that opens the faces of guard helmets, you probably could not help but notice that many of the guards are the same. If you like a bit more diversity amongst those charged with keeping the peace, this mod may be for you.
What this mod does is almost double the stock of basic NPCs that the game uses when it wants to spawn a new guard or soldier. Furthermore, it makes sure that the stock of guards used for Solitude, Markarth and Whiterun (and other guards and soldiers in holds aligned with the Imperial faction) actually contain some female NPCs.
There is currently little racial diversity, and actually I don't think there ever will be more - Skyrim definitely feels as if non-Nordic guards would be out of place (the possible exception being an Imperial or two in Solitude, perhaps).
There is also a completely independent patch for Beyond Skyrim: Bruma, to increase the facial diversity of city guards (by which I mean, add some facial diversity). It is not dependent on the main mod.

  9. Consistent Older People

Have you noticed that some NPCs are clearly meant to be elderly if you look at their faces, but their bodies seem to be more appropriate for a younger person? Furthermore, this is not consistent - some older NPCs have bodies and faces that match.
Now, this may or may not bother you, but the visual disparity annoys me. What most people might have done is make the fake-old NPCs younger. Instead, I reckoned that generally the NPCs are supposed to be the age their faces look, so decided to make their bodies match their faces.
This mod requires that USSEP is installed, and your game will crash on startup if it isn't.

  10. Outfit Tweaks

This mod tweaks a number of things regarding NPC outfits. These tweaks include:
-Allows the player to be dressed in any of the four variants of the prisoner outfit instead of the generic beggar outfit.
-Added the missing topless with shoes prisoner outfit variant (women will never be topless).
-Changed Aela's outfit to Wolf Armor, as was originally intended according to unused dialogue.
-Changed the imprisoned Alik'r Warrior's outfit to a prisoner outfit (the topless with shoes variant).
-Changed the Windhelm argonian dock workers' outfits to miner outfits to better look the part of workers.
-Changed the outfits of various orc stronghold orcs from clothes to furs, as it didn't feel right to me that followers of Malacath would wear fabrics.
-Gave low level armor sets to followers Derkeethus, Annekke, Roggi, Sven, and Faendal, so that they will not be defenceless when first recruited (they are low level so that you can easily change their armor by giving them higher level gear, and because I felt they wouldn't be able to afford high level armors)
Note: As of version 2.0, most of these changes are made dynamically by a script. As a failsafe, the script can be rerun by activating the "Reassign Outfits" power. This should be done if you feel the script did not run like it was supposed to, or if another mod overrides these changes. (For example, users of Immersive Armors should rerun the script every time that mod reconfigures, e.g. when the message "Immersive Armors configuration has finished" appears, as that mod also dynamically alters outfits, and does so at a later point than this one.)

  11. Skooma Bear

    Mod Trailer

What is a Skooma Bear?  Why it is a bear addicted to moon sugar that keeps calling moon sugar Skooma.  Why do they call it Skooma and where do
    they come from?  Find out!

In this mod, you will meet Sniffs in the Bannered Mare.  He is all depressed that he was kicked out of his den,
and that his den mates stole his 'Skooma'.  You quickly discover
that the bears are much more than what they appear, and even get to
fight their alpha.  But where did they come from?

After helping Sniffs out, he will agree to be your follower.  Also at this time, you
can ask him about where he comes from.  Naturally he becomes defensive,
but will eventually relent.  From there you will be sent on a quest and
will meet new characters, one of which can become a follower.

The best part about these followers?  You can request their assistance
without worrying about Vilja, Xanthys, M.H.A.R.P.H.I.N., Serana, or any of the other followers you
currently use.  Sniffs offers a lot more options than the vanilla Skyrim
follower system, and will follow and wait most anywhere.  You can even
set your favorite house and favorite inn for Sniffs to remember and wait
in.  The other follower, Faidalf, is quite typical in the high elf
tradition of arrogance, and is one of the few at the College of
Winterhold versed in the art of Mysticism.  He refuses to do most of
what Sniffs can do, but will do the basics.  Faidalf will treat you
differently depending on whether you are a member of the College or not,
and whether you are the Arch-Mage.  He will give you the opportunity to
become involved with his latest research when you become(or currently
    are) the Arch-Mage.

The new texts and dialogue are rooted in the lore found in previous Elder Scrolls games, while adding worthwhile
content.  It might be a richer experience for you if you have played
previous Elder Scrolls games.  If you have not, I highly recommend using
    USEP wiki as a companion.

    What is Added:
    -Added 'Skooma' Bear
-Sniffs is a 'Skooma' Bear that can be a companion (fully voice acted)

-Faidalf's dialogue evolves depending on if you are not affiliated with the College, a member of the College, or the Arch-Mage.
