Currently you can protect your account (username and password) optionally with a 2-factor system. Is it possible please for support to use hardware security keys in order to perform password less authentication to be added so accounts can be authenticated by the devices?

This would give another option for elevating the security of accounts on this site and possibly other associated services, it could when enabled also be used by the site management to protect their accounts also from malicious access!

Unfortunately that's not an option that the IPS package provides for. It's also not a terribly common thing to use outside of critical infrastructure due to the expense involved in having the hardware available to do that kind of authentication.

So we're gonna have to make due with the options IPS provides. Google Authenticator is pretty good at least.
