USKP/USLEEP: PlayerFollowerPackage ?

I have noticed that the USKP and USLEEP packages modify the PlayerFollowerPackage 0005C84B to make the follower follow at a further distance.  In most cases completely off camera when max zoomed.  I tried finding a reason for it in the history log but was unsuccessful.  Does anyone know why USKP/USLEEP makes this change?

Iirc to stop them from bumping into you when you stop sprinting. They usually follow behind you, and the AI is a bit slow to react when then player suddenly comes to a halt.

Following distance was close enough to allow them to push you from ledges and such, they've been moved back a bit, but certainly not far enough to lose them off camera in any way.

I always had a problem with Anska in the High Gate Ruin.  No matter what I do she always bumped into me when I suddenly stop for traps, and one occasion or two she actually pushed me forward so I activated the trap.
