Smartphone pictures supposedly pose privacy risk

This is obviously not Skyrim (or Elder Scrolls) related, but I was curious to see if you guys were aware of the potential privacy risks from taking smartphone pictures and posting them online. I can't verify the accuracy of the information and don't personally use a smartphone, but it is kind of disturbing.

It's just image metadata, hardly a new technology. You can disable the location metadata in your phone's settings :P

 

A classic example of people not being aware of how the technology they're using works. The fact that the police had never seen anything like it worries me really.

EXIF data to be specific. There's no reason in the world though for smartphones to be tagging this much data though.

 

And I'm not buying that the cop they interviewed is even close to an "internet crime expert".
