  • smr1957 changed the title to Skyrim Special Edition Updated to version 1.6.629

So, expect the usual complaints from people regarding an update - many of which may be the same people who complain about Bethesda never fixing bugs - LOL!

Which Bethesda Discord?  I follow two for the announcements, and I do not see the data you listed in either server.

Got the information from Steam, so do not have a link, at present.  But the actual update itself has been confirmed by people getting the update notice for their game in their Library.

As always: If you wish to downgrade for the meantime:

Open Steam Console:

Find them in your steamapps/content folder
Overwrite all files in your Skyrim folder. Voila, back to the older version. This includes all base game data.

Since we don't know what changes to the .exe are tied to the updated cc (and vanilla esm's), I'd recommend replacing everything with the old version.

Would at least wait for Arthmoor to forward any changes to esm's and plugins into USSEP, before updating. And for me quite a while longer due to the fact there's quite a few more mods that will require updates, and I'm in the middle of a playthrough. Worst update timing.

An update on the patch:

"Hi folks, we are aware of an issue following today's Skyrim patch where some downloaded mods suddenly became unavailable in-game after accessing the mods menu. We are actively investigating this and will share an update as soon as we can. Thank you for your patience!"

Jesscapade's clarification this morning:

"Additionally, we wanted to clarify that many of these changes will only take effect on new saves, or if you haven’t encountered the content yet."

An update this afternoon:

"The root cause of the disappearing mod issue has been identified, and we are hard at work on a fix. We’re optimistic a hotfix will be ready early next week, but unfortunately we won’t have it before the weekend."

SKSE64 has been updated:

Current Anniversary Edition build 2.2.0 (game version 1.6.629) - at https://skse.silverlock.org/

And, of course, there is no such thing as an "Anniversary Edition" - it is all SSE.  AE is solely the optional DLC of 70 or so Creation Club content that can be purchased for use with the base game.  For full explanation of this, see:

Another update:

"Thank you for your patience while we worked to resolve a few residual issues. We were able to deploy a small patch for Skyrim today, the list of fixes can be found below:

•    Resolved issue preventing some mods from properly loading.
•    Resolved an issue causing the player's Creation Credit balance to display incorrectly after immediately purchasing credits. (Except on Steam)
•    Resolved issue preventing players from purchasing the pet Nix-Hound in some non-English languages.
•    Resolved issue preventing players from purchasing horse armor in some non-English languages."

Thanks for posting that info!  It is much appreciated!

And, of course, in the Steam forum, despite the update a mere 5 days ago, and despite being told how to prevent an update, that they should back everything up, and who should have known (because it was mentioned A LOT) that a new update was pending, people are complaining how this update broke their game - again.:wallbash:

The update didn't break a thing, other than the in-game mod menu, which is now fixed. The only thing "broken" would be the usual SKSE plugins that aren't updated yet. That's not Bethesda's fault.

Well, logic and reality never stopped people from complaining about things that really aren't an issue to begin with.  Especially not on the Steam SSE forum.  Hence why I sometimes need to take a day off - if not more - from it!

Now, if only the SKSE team would get it right and stop confusing people by calling it Anniversary Edition - when it is all Special Edition.
