Cyberpunk 2077

The price is good right now, as for game play versus bugs degrading the experience .. Its now at a point where you will find it hard to see bugs in the game, certainly no game breaking bugs left, its all just getting polished.

How many more updates to come I don't know, but if the Witcher series is anything to go by this game will get just as much love.

And what DLCs are to come .. again I cant say.

One thing I do know is its a damned fine RPG and very enjoyable, the balance of perks etcetera is still being tweaked. CDPR have put a lot of thought and imagination into this game, the hacking of body modifications of enemies is brilliant for strategic advantage, and the Brain Dance idea is just superb.

I want to say a lot about the game but I would have to give spoilers which may ruin a few OMG moments. Let me just say they have gone to town on the Cyber aspects of this game, and have done a really good job. It starts off just being a shooter in a dystopian world, but the complexity of what you can do slowly ramps up without being overwhelming.

Much fun, a bit naughty, hacking .. Get into Crafting early is my tip. And persevere with the new ideas the game gives you, it will be worth it.

And yes, I would recommend buying it now if you think its a game you can get into.

Though my opinion is based on the smooth experience I am having on the PC in my signature below, no idea about consoles.

Thanks for the info. Stupid me didn't notice that i can download a free trial that (according to some comments) i can play for around 5 hours. Since the sale still goes on for a couple of days i have time to download and try it out. But i have the feeling that it will be a game for me. And with the new console it should be a decent experience.

So.....i played the 5 hour trial and it was really impressive. As usual i wasted to much time in character creation.:lmao:

One question: I played the Nomad start in the trial and after getting over the border there was some fast forwarding to 6 months later. Is this something that happens only in the trial? I hope so because it was a little sudden ending up in some mission without knowing much.

Anyway, i will buy it later today. I was kicked out during some interesting BD mission "grrrr". Although, i definitely will start a new game. (I'm not even sure the saves from the trial can be used) And waste another hour in character creation. :P

I must say it does look good, when this game was announced I was really looking forward to it, but then the delays and bugs and bad reviews put me off. I might try it at some point but to be honest Starfield has my full attention at the moment. Its so long since there was a truely good space game.

Starfield

I have somehow lost my faith in bethesda. Maybe Starfield will be good, maybe it will be a pile of crap like 76. No pre-order or full price buying of any bethesda game again. If it turns out decent then i will reconsider after release and enough information.

I loughed really loud when i saw this in CP.

Surprised the demo let you go as far as the Braindance part.

And yeah there is a bit of fast forwarding, you get pre-recorded clips of some of your life with Jackie doing gigs and getting drunk etcetera, then continue from your new apartment.

Personally after walking out of your apartment I avoid meeting Jackie again for a while, and go exploring / fighting / crafting and generally building up my stats a bit / pay off Victor for his help / maybe do quite a few side missions for other fixers in your Journal. You can keep any main story missions on hold.

I wont spoil it but keeping the main quest on hold for a while you will realise in hindsight might have been a good thing for a while. And when you eventually do get close to the end of the Nomad main story there's also the other stories to go through, possibly at harder levels.

Edit: Oh and don't miss being respectful to someones family (cant spoil it), there is something very nice in that persons garage.

Edit 2: ah disregard this edit, sooo many things I want to talk about but would spoil the game, muzzle on mmmf! :X

I was waiting on an updated PC anyway, but now like you got turned away.  Once I get my new PC (this year I hope) I may get it on sale.  But I did read that it has endings ... as in the game actually ends, and not always in a good way.  So I start thinking why get invested in a game I know I'm going to probably have a sucky ending.  I just want to live and play in the world and not really do any main quests, but not sure that's really possible.

Yeah there's plenty to do without completing any main story, even during an ongoing story (as mentioned to Rotzi before your post) you can start any of the stories and at some point just put it on hold and go do as many gigs / side missions as you please.

I'm still playing the first Nomad story on easy (will eventually get round to trying the 4 higher difficulty levels), have not tried the other stories yet, but I think you are right that eventually there is a not so nice ending, whether you can change the outcome or not I dont know yet, haven't got there.

Time will tell if the open world gets expanded or not with DLCs, or maybe some underground areas will be expanded on .. I dont think anyone knows for sure yet how its all going to go, too early in development to tell really.

Give it a few years if sceptical :construction:.

There appears to be evidence that CD Projekt is developing 3rd-person view for Cyberpunk.  I might actually buy the game if they do this.

:bunny: Thanks for that Pseron, but on the other hand I kind of restrain myself from getting hopes up with this game, speculation on what could be is a bit crazy sometimes with Cyberpunk fans media.

That video does look like it reveals some promising stuff though.

I'm just really enjoying what it is right now for the time being, and hoping the in-game hint of more areas to be unlocked will come to be, there are quite a few boundaries where you go too far and the game gives you a message something like "Sorry choom you cant go that way .. yet" ... When! :)

I also just got a new machine (signature) and the game as it is performs brilliantly and looks really good. So I am starting again the whole thing to enjoy the better machine experience.

Honestly with the visual outputs from your implants the 1st person view is the only one that really makes sense IMO.  Plus it's the only way I would have played the game anyway.

I never got the game, but then that was due to me really not having a PC able to max it out.  That should change this Summer, but this game is still on the 'wait and see' list.  Sad since I was really hyped before it came out, but um ... yeah, then it was released.

It's well worth the purchase at this point. I don't know that adding 3rd person camera support will change that in a meaningful way. The game is more about the over all appearance and the excellent story line that's supporting it.

Maybe I'm not as jaded as some because I didn't pick it up until the big 1.2 patch dropped but I've had no problems with the game that weren't directly caused by me trying to get too aggressive on the quality settings. It's definitely a game that benefits most from a top end PC.

:) Yep, I am very satisfied with this games performance on my new laptop and being able to use raytracing, the garage / car / town / NPCs at the start of the Nomads story look amazing.

But its still a laptop with less cooling capability and motherboard bandwidth than a desktop, and this games newly opened up settings for me could quite easily turn it into a blob of melted plastic on the floor if I let it.

Still tuning the experience, but looking forward to going through the story again on a harder difficulty level :construction:

I played this game until I ran out of stuff to do. Every single map marker located, explored, resolved. Main quest done. Side quests done. All that was left was randomly roaming around looking for little randomized encounters. During all of that I thoroughly enjoyed the game.

It looks awesome on my mid-high range gaming PC. Absolutely gorgeous at times. Parts of the city feel so alive. So much is going on in the background that doesn't affect game play, but enhances the feel.

Are there things I'd change? Sure. Were there some bugs? Yep. Did any of it degrade my experience? Not really. A solid, fun game with lots to do and explore.

What I'd change if I could:

1) More variety in randomized crowd NPCs. When you stand at an intersection, look all directions and see the same visually distinctive NPC walking down the street in each direction, it breaks immersion. Add in more NPCs, with something coded in so that no more than one copy of a single NPC can be within 1.2x vision distance.

2) Faction reputation. Gangs/factions are a big deal, but not fleshed out. If I'm roaming around terrorizing Gang X, finding every instance I can of them making a deal or mugging someone or just hanging out, they should start reacting to me when they see me coming. Their allies should be wary of me, their foes perhaps considering alliance of some sort. Instead, virtually nothing I do (unless I start going after cops) affects how the NPCs react.

3) More side quests. I loved a bunch of those side quests. More more more. Especially faction-themed ones, it would be great to be able to do a bit more to improve the quality of life of some of the struggling factions you interact with.

4) More post-romance interactions with your significant other NPC. After finishing her quests, it felt like she sort of dropped off the radar. Something to maintain and expand the relationship would have been great.

5) If you're wearing something that would be of significance to certain NPCs (ex: a legendary vintage tour t-shirt from a certain band), having them react would be fun. Even if it's just some throwaway dialogue.

Other than that? Pretty happy with it. It's rare that I like a game enough to play every bit of content I can find in it. This was one of those games. I definitely recommend it.

Bit of news, there are some more free DLCs coming over the next year in the form of Gigs, and also an expansion coming next year, probably not free though.

I just finished the game for the first time, and the second time, in the last week.

First time the dialogue paths chosen took me down what is I think the Devil ending, wasn't too keen on that ending so decided to go back to the save I made before the "point of no return" and this time did the Star ending (you get an achievement for completing it called The Star). That was a much better ending, and saves out a point where you get a few bonus items and get to finish off all gigs / side quests you haven't so far. I dont know for sure how much you have to befriend Panam for the Star ending to be a thing, but I went with a male V, romanced Panam throughout the game (aswell as helping out all the other characters you meet along the way), and then after the point of no return answered Johnny's questions with getting Panam to help. By this time you also need to be pretty well buffed / crafted for a meeting with one particular horrendous character, awesome battles.

The story and emotional involvement you get with some of the characters in this game are outstanding. Some very wet eyeball moments throughout.

Going to keep on milking this end game for a while and then go try the other game starts and eventually harder levels.

Really looking forward to the games expansion and more free DLCs which are coming.

That's the ending that I got. I was pretty happy with it as the conclusion to the story. Somewhat sad, yet hopeful at the same time, with good resolution of the supporting characters' storylines.

:) Yep, that ending feels much better and gives you hope.

I'm hoping that the expansion to come next year may use that ending as maybe a basis to continue and maybe solve the 6 month limit, and you get to play that out to a much further developed open world game you can play forever after. Fingers crossed anyway .. But I cant see how that would work for all the other endings, so it would kind of railroad a lot of people into potentially doing an ending they did not want.

------------------

There has been a bit of activity on the steam depots in the last week for this game, probably working up to the next patch and free dlc content

https://steamdb.info/app/1091500/depots/

------------------

I just had a battle with one of the Cyberpsycho missions which I thought was worse than Adam Smasher.

If you come across a Cyberpsycho in an area that looks like its laid out for a Necromancy Ritual .. standby for a few flatlines. Spoiler ..

I guess I could have been buffed a bit more in the right areas of development of my character, but this mission was a series of "Lets try this .." flatline, "OK then .." flatline, "how about .." flatline, "bloody hell, lets try being on the boundary of the hostile area and backing off after dealing a bunch of damage .." she is full power each time you re-enter. Eventually I jumped up on top of a balcony to try and prevent her greatest strength of being able to run circles round me very fast and deal a massive amount of damage, that worked. But it took about 20 flatlines before I got there, generally I have done pretty well in this game and not needed to use save reload against bad ass characters, even Adam Smasher I did twice in the different endings and managed to kill him both times without dying myself in the process .. But this Cyberpsycho was something else. Even trying to apply some epic Cyber Malfunctions, Synapse Burnouts or Sonic shock was not enough to delay her attacks and then damage her with various methods, on the ground she is just too fast and high damage dealing. Use combinations of those plus a high power tech rifle from that balcony on the right was the method that eventually worked.

Some of those cyberpsychos were just brutal. Unless you're doing it just right, they one-shot kill you. One I ran into did it from long range too with some kind of BFG. I ended up sneaking through cover, taking a single sniper shot, then immediately moving to different cover.

The other fight I had to repeat a bunch before I won was the final match in the boxing tournament. The ring was just so damned small....
