Cleaning the SSE Masters & Others

For anyone searching, the combined tutorial for LE & SE is here, with thanks.

After cleaning the DragonBorn esm (ver. 1.5.3.0), XEdit 3.2.1 did not prompt to save the mod. Tried it twice. Was it officially fixed then?

Edit: Got the Yes/No Warning, with the file's time stamp updated. So it was edited. Just no prompt to save after Undelete  & Disable References.

The LE dirty plugins list will eventually require a SE counterpart. What's the deal? Do we lobby for a new SE landing page for this stuff or just create a separate SE entry in the current wiki page?

Heads up, cleaned the masters last night before the last SSE update came in.

The file stamps of the esms have been changed back to those of the previous update,... e.g. for Update.esm...

Just checking. :P

Yeah, they updated all 5 of the official files but it isn't clear for what outside of Hearthfires.esm being updated for housing support and the wolf howl fix in Update.esm.

Sorry @lmstearn I must have missed this topic back in October last year.

I eventually just decided to make the guide both LE and SE, and duplicated it everywhere, but did not anticipate a need for having an extra one on AFK Mods .. When it comes to Knowledgebase articles for all things Skyrim, on AFK Mods they generally do not get re-duplicated here into a separate SSE article because everyone who frequents here knows to reference oldrim knowledge base section aswell.

It seriously needs an update, in the topic you linked periodically I get poked by @Leonardo reminding me some of the results are now wrong, but they aren't if you are using the 3.2 release the guide is written for - xEdit usually sits for a long while in beta and there are hardly any changes before it comes out of beta (and I understand Zilavs need for the long period to ensure the most valuable tool we have for modding this series of games is released in a very reliable state) .. But this time around there have been an unprecedented amount of updates to the game series, with new versions of the same games long after the usual bug fixing period, plus there have been bonuses in Sheson joining in to help expand its capabilities = The wait went on a lot longer than I was expecting.

The reason I did not wish to do an update using the latest beta 3.2.1, was that I wanted the Nexus copies of the guide to tie in with results people would be getting from the official release on Nexus (and the guide once produced is replicated everywhere .. See links below).

I know a lot of people will be using the dev beta linked here on AFK Mods, but I think they tend to be more advanced users seeking out latest developments and so will have the confidence in their own ability to get the procedure correct and not need a hand holding set of results to corroborate their results.

So I wanted to wait until 3.2.1 goes public .. But I think its about time I just did an update and linked the dev version of xEdit instead of the official relz

Will probably do it when I am off shift again after next week. I will probably have a fair few complaints from people still only using the public relz of 3.2, but personally now I think they really ought to be using all the advancements that have been made to xEdit since, and new record types being recognised.

The Guide currently appears at the following links, and when it is done needs done for all of them :

Edit : For anyone curious about the manual edits .. Yep those still need doing to Dawnguard.esm after the two rounds of cleaning on the same plugin, just did a redownload of all my setup today and went through the procedure for all of them. As mentioned there are a few changes need doing to the number of expected ITMs and UDRs and file CRCs, but the procedure remains the same.

Is it safe to clean Masters with SSEEdit from the thread "[WIPz] TES5Edit" for patch 1.5.39 or do we need to wait for a new release?

Totally (and especially after the most recent updates to dev, your plugins will benefit more from using that, there is nothing wrong with 3.2, but 3.2.1 does more than the older version now) - I regularly ignore the warning about kittens, Zilavs coding historically is probably as bug free as you could wish any software to be when its needed to be reliable, the cleaning I did yesterday for my own setup was with the same, and when I refer to the dev version in my last post here ..

For my own peace of mind I will have to do them myself meticulously, but its good to have someone who obviously knows the ropes as a reference to compare that I am getting things right too .. So yep it will be helpful. Bookmarking this post so I dont forget its in another topic to my own guide topic. I still need to re-install Skyrim LE again ( I forgot I still needed it around and uninstalled it a few days ago to clear up space, along with a few other games )
