Hardware Specs

Some folks (like me) feel compelled to post H/W specs in various threads like some doggone heart on a sleeve.

Well, many specs programs are making that a little easier on the eye. For example CPU_Z have their own CPU validation online database now.

All you do is click the validate button in the gui and hey presto! the specs are up for grabs.

And yeah, the memory is actually 2 X 8GB sticks which equates to 4 X 4 GB. Before upgrading it was 2 X 4GB which still evaluated to 16384 MB somehow, so there you go.

As for the displays, the second (extended) display is switched off and detected correctly but now it's not there (same config in Windows). Actually there was a mixup with their DB- somehow ended up with the link of someone else's rig!

But there may be other betters. Have any to share?

A rig about a year older than the one above above is being retired, a sterling performance over 12+ glorious years, and plays SSE very well. Recently indicating signs of wear & tear, and occasioning uncalled for beeps on bootup.

Consequently, have another one to share, the new rig has been in storage for over a year, it was nigh high time to unpack and give it a whirl, and see how W11 runs. Gotta tell you, after a few minor  glitches (end of this thread), it's a lot quieter than the other one, and the fans have a pleasant sounding hum, like the surf on on a distant shore. No previous usage of an SSD brings another surprise, the boot up experience is simply amazing, 20-30 seconds you're in, as opposed to 3-4 minutes.

Love the shard lighting, on first turning it on, actually pink, now flicked it back to match the image below. :)

Edit:

Armoury Crate is the motherboard utility app, which has an automatic install switch in UEFI. Funny one, as a user would want to be alerted for it initially in order to turn it off, if desired.

Had a couple of minor queries with Armoury Crate, so logged into the ROG forums to post. For that, signing up for an ASUS account gets you in, everything  seemed fine initially in the Chrome browser, however after opening multiple ASUS tabs which also included the parent website, somehow got signed out, and then it turned out quite hellish long in logging in, and when you did, it was either rejected, or back to an ASUS "OOPS" redirect. Any attempt to login on a new page, the login aspx's go in infinite spin. Over to Edge browser, no problem with the login (to a single tab), where you are automatically redirected to the ASUS main signon page.
