[RELz] LOOT - Load Order Optimisation Tool

I posted this on github using the link from the nexus page, but I thought I'd mention it here as well...

In the latest version 0.18.1, if LOOT makes no changes to the sort order it doesn't tell the user that, it simply ends and goes back to the interface. In previous versions if there were no changes, it said that. At least I didn't see any message and I looked pretty hard. Maybe I just missed it?

As @pStyl3 pointed out in your GitHub issue, it shows up in the status bar in the bottom left corner.

I can't reproduce this with either out-of-the-box vanilla game masters or cleaned ones & with either xEdit v4.0.4 or v4.0.4b. The ITM that gets cleaned has the FormID 020153C2 (i.e., xx0153C2 from Dawnguard.esm), so try taking a look at it in xEdit to see why it doesn't get cleaned. I'm assuming the original record is edited in your copy of Dawnguard.esm in such a way that it's considered an override or conflict winner when you try to clean it, but

Edited by sibir
mistakenly referenced ITM but conflict winner records when I meant overrides & conflict winners

& this is the ITM that was cleaned:

Removing: [REFR:020153C2] (places RockCaveEntrance02_HeavySN [STAT:000B6010] in GRUP Cell Temporary Children of [CELL:00008FC4] (in Tamriel "Skyrim" [WRLD:0000003C] at 15,16))

This is the QAC report I get with Shadowrend:

  - name: 'ccbgssse018-shadowrend.esl'
    dirty:
      - <<: *quickClean
        crc: 0xEDDE17F4

        util: 'SSEEdit v4.0.4'

& this is the ITM that was cleaned:

Removing: Player "Prisoner" [NPC_:00000007]

These are with unedited English v1.6.353 master files (verified integrity through Steam), & the reports are the same after cleaning the master files & with xEdit v4.0.4b. Like I said, cleaning also depends on the masters of the plugin cleaned, so please check these records in xEdit to see why they aren't cleaned for you & if manually cleaning them would be appropriate. I'm assuming your master files are different in such a way (maybe localized) that those records are no longer deemed ITMs by xEdit, but they may still be worth manually cleaning (e.g., unlocalized strings from the CC files blocking localized strings in the master files, though I'm not sure how SSE is localized).

SSEEdit does clean fine, when I run it with these two mods I get a "clean" result.

However, LOOT still says they are with 1 ITM and gives warning. So LOOT ignores local cleaning because same CRCs. After contact to LOOT support they say it is in masterlist as dirty with same CRC. I understand that someone sent false entry for masterlist, no idea how to correct this in these cases, as that mods are part of the payed AE DC

Loot says (and refers to SSEEdit v4.0.4 output, so I understand Loot does not read SSEdit's output correctly)

xEdit cleaning reports are manually added to the masterlists, so what you see within LOOTs UI is exactly what is within the masterlist. So the problem here isn't that LOOT is reading something incorrectly.

Quote

So LOOT ignores local cleaning because same CRCs.

Ignoring your own xEdit cleaning results would imply, that LOOT is checking against such things - but it isn't. All LOOT is doing is to display, what was manually added to it's own masterlist.

Quote

I understand that someone sent false entry for masterlist

No false entries were added to the masterlist. The cleaning results that's been added to the masterlists, were created using the vanilla and English base game files. Here's the important bit though, I've tried to reproduce your cleaning results using the German base game files, and while I couldn't replicate your cleaning result for the "cave" plugin (it would still show me 1 ITM), for the "shadowrend" plugin I could verify your result, for shadowrend xEdit also found no ITM (if, and only if, my game was set to German, instead of it being set to English).

So what does this all mean? At least with the shadowrend plugin you found a rare case, in which a record within the plugin is identical to master if the game is English, but isn't ITM if it's German. That means, even though LOOT is correct on this 1 ITM for this plugin, because your game is German you won't be able to automatically clean it using xEdit's QAC process. That's also why @sibir suggested to look at the record in question and see, if it would make sense for you to delete it nonetheless manually.

Regarding LOOT this means of course, unless you go remove the record in question by hand yourself, that you will continue to see the warning about the 1 ITM. That isn't ideal, but we have an issue open on GitHub that tracks progress on the requested feature to being able to hide messages for individual plugins in LOOT, so in a rare case that a warning about a dirty plugin is not applicable for you, you could hide it at least.

ok, but I still have an objection: Normal LOOT shows no longer a warning, when I  clean a dirty mod and run SSEEdit AFTER translation. In this case LOOT ignores the English original of the masterlist and takes the CRC of my cleaning. or what? (I see no other explanation, why that is in such cases).

Anyways, it is confusing for non English users.

LOOT only displays cleaning data (both dirty & clean) for specific checksums of plugins that have been manually submitted to the masterlists. If you made any edits to the mod (e.g., translating it), the checksum will change, so cleaning data will not be displayed unless cleaning data for that checksum of the plugin has been supplied to the relevant masterlist. Without knowing the plugin you're referring to, I can't check what cleaning data we have on that mod.

I've checked the latest version of your translation from that link (Wyrmstooth-1.19.8 DV 1.1), & this is the cleaning data I get with it:

  - name: 'Wyrmstooth.esp'
    clean:

The checksum is different, so is the report your submitting here from an older or unreleased version? If it's older, there's not really any point in keeping cleaning data for older versions unless users have good reason to use it in some cases. If it's unreleased, is the release imminent, or are you planning on making more changes? If a release is imminent & it won't be changed any further, we can add it if you provide the version number it will have on release. If you plan on making more changes, please resubmit the cleaning data when it's finalized or released.

I get warning in yellow

- CRC: C9371351 ... <= right CRC

"- Warning: Veraltet. Aktualisieren Sie zur neusten Version. [Wyrmstooth] <=wrong warning

the published version number at
- [Drachenzahn (Wyrmstooth) DV](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/18553/)
is 1-19-8-DV-1.1

The CRC is right, but version number is cut, and the warning gives a link to the "newer" version that is the not the German but the original English, but the German is that last version.

the comple stored in LOOT is

# Wyrmstooth.esp

- Version: 1.1  <= wrong version number the right is 1.19.8-DV-1.1
- CRC: C9371351
- Load Order Index: 0B
- Attributes: Active, Master Plugin, Loads Archive
- Verified clean by: SSEEdit v4.0.4b

Loot should not store internal the link tto the original but to the mod in case only, as it has own CRC and own link and own version number. So Loot compares wrong mods overall, as the translation with own CRC is an own mod technically, upgrades = new CRC and new version number is of the translated mod, not of the original to show.

the comple stored in LOOT is

I fixed this when I added the cleaning data for your translation by disabling the message for it (more specifically, if the Data/interface/translations/wyrmstooth_german.txt file is found as it appears to be the most reliable way to differentiate them) as it's indeed only intended for users of the English version. Please update your masterlist.

If you want LOOT to recognize your translation's version number as 1.19.8-DV-1.1 (& therefore circumvent the message issue entirely), you need to change the version number line in the plugin's description to something like:

Version: 1.19.8-DV-1.1

Currently, it's:

Version: Wyrmstooth-1.19.8 DV 1.1

which LOOT picks up as 1.1 because it doesn't recognize Wyrmstooth-1.19.8 as a version number basically due to the fact that it starts with letters. It then continues to scan the string for some indication of a version number, skips the DV as, again, it's just letters, then sees the 1.1 & recognizes that as the version number. If you want to read more about how LOOT interprets version numbers to best accommodate the wide variety in use, please see this section of the metadata syntax docs.

thanks, I try it with - instead space. Made space for better reading. Last download og maste list didn't help. Change version numbers necessary also inside the esm/esps in header SNAM - Description ? Wyrmstooth as sample: there currently is in SMA - Descriptio "Version: Wyrmstooth-1.19.8 DV 1.1" /w/o "  What would be the best/right there?

Yes, the plugin description (i.e., SNAM of the file header) is what I was referring to. You would change it from:

Version: Wyrmstooth-1.19.8 DV 1.1

to:

Version: 1.19.8-DV-1.1

As for the message still occurring, try sorting (you don't need to apply the sorted order). If that doesn't work, do you have the file Data/interface/translations/wyrmstooth_german.txt from your translation currently installed?

Hello,

thanks a lot.

a) currently it's Version: Wyrmstooth-1.19.8 DV 1.1 in SNAM, showing in LOOT version 1.1 only, but no longer the warning, so I'm lazy and don't change it just now (If I get no warning now, also the users will get none)

b) Data/interface/translations/wyrmstooth_german.txt is NOW installed correctly, I had installed an older Version on my PC, not the last version I published, shame.

c) noticed: in future Version in SNAM format for all I'll publish will be w/o spaces
 like this

1.19.8-DV-1.1
