Wrye Bash - All Games

Utumno

Recommended Posts

See my previous post for confirmation that I'm an idiot.  But I come with a serious question.  I am running the Nexus standalone release of Bash.  I'm on Linux (thus Wine), so support may be minimal.  My problem is Oblivion Reloaded Lite will not install.  It's in project format cuz BAIN under Linux doesn't work with archives.  This is the structure.

Anything jump out to the devs that looks off?  I know it isn't written for Linux, but I'm wondering if there's something in there, like a string name or something.

Meh, no need to waste your time, @Infernio.  Linux isn't officially supported, I'm sure it's fine under Windows, and I just wrote a Python script to install and uninstall ORL.  Your time is probably best spent focusing on other things.  I'm solid.  Unless you're looking to fix it.  It's probably a Wine thing, not Bash.  Other than ORL, I've not had a single issue installing a mod.  If I had multiple issues, I'd be persistent.

It's odd though.  ORL v7.0 didn't have this issue (or some older version--I forget which).

Skyrim SE User. I use stable Wrye Bash 309.1 currently (ready to switch if it helps).

Everything works fine with my mods, about 700 plugin (201 normal).

On the files side everythings works too (825 files).

I have a problem with archive -> installed files checking. The "conflicts" tabs crashes for me since I added one archive containing a single hkx (animation). In-game the animation works fine.

Now the crash occurs even on files that have no conflicts (green).

Please try the WIP build linked in the second post of this thread. If the error persists, please upload a full bug dump reproducing the error (see instructions).

The latest WIP (310.202202111155) does not show me a crash but the conflict resolution tab is empty for any mod.

Edit: Full refresh did not fix this problem.

@ssuamier Please make a bashbugdump and upload it: https://github.com/wrye-bash/wrye-bash/wiki/[github]-Reporting-a-bug#the-bashbugdumplog, as instructed by sibir (with the WIP build, that is).

I created a bug report: https://github.com/wrye-bash/wrye-bash/issues/629

Update: Latest nightly fixed that issue. I had a once crash after the update (dump added above), afterwards so far no problems encountered.

@4nk8r The new nightly (310.202201242117) has support for the Index column on the Saves tab. You may have to right click the column headers in the Masters list and enable it via 'Columns > Index' first though.

Thanks for that, but as-is doesn't really provide what I was seeking.  I was hoping for an analog between MI and Current LO.  Index is only showing the old value in the savegame without showing the current Index position for comparison (I'd previously said this opposite before this correction).

@4nk8r I don't really understand what you mean. Maybe it would be helpful if you posted a screenshot of a master list along with the values you'd want the column to have for that exact master list?

I'm not a visual person, so hopefully I can explain it.

Hopefully short version:

I want to be able to see if a mod I put in FE10 stays in FE10 or moves to FE99 due to LOOT, adding updates or some other thing happening to load order.  MI and CLO are only showing me the plugin position assigned from a global load order, when I need to be able to compare past and previous memory location, or Index values, of the respective plugin types.  MI/CLO values don't show if an FE plugin has shifted index, only raw load order.

Longer version:

Before the requested addition of the FE index, the Saves view had MI (Mod Index?) and Current LO (CLO) columns. In LE, MI and CLO are accurate for the Index, but the values displayed have stayed relative to raw load order vs actual Index since WB was expanded for ESL/ESPFE support.

In SSE, the MI/CLO view still provides a useful global load order POV when end results matter, but loses effectiveness in keeping relative mod index orders straight (00-FD and FEXX, respectively) for savegame health.

Now that the new Index value was added, which I'll refer to as TI, for True Index, it needs a "Current Index" analog for use in comparing previous and current plugin Indices.  I say "True" because it now accurately reflects the memory locations of both 00-FD, as well as FEXX, plugins.  Outside of LE, MI really should be called something like HLO (Historical Load Order) since the value it reflects is Load Order vs Mod Index values when the scope isn't LE.

Thanks for taking the time to read and consider my requests.  Cheers

Please try this build and report back if the new column works as expected (I'm on Linux right now so had to implement this more or less blindly): https://github.com/wrye-bash/wrye-bash/suites/5371821797/artifacts/168558595

This build doesn't appear to have either newer column under Saves.  Just MI and Current LO.  No other sort options visible.

BAIN markers keep disappearing with the version released today.  I'm on Linux, but I don't think that's the issue because I've never had problems with markers.

Should be fixed in latest nightly code

If I'm not mistaken, you haven't updated the Dropbox nightly's.  Once you do, I'll test.  I'm on the standalone build.  Unless I have made an error in memory?

EDIT:

Nah, Dropbox files (standalone) don't fix the issue.

@4nk8r Did you enable the columns? Right click the column header, then enable them under 'Columns..'. Should look something like this:

I'd been using the stand-alone versions for quite some time until the latest.  Clean installs kept reporting errors about tkinter missing.  If I installed the newest stand-alone over top an older WB version, there were no tkinter errors but I was missing the new columns.  After doing a full reinstall with the installer version, things began working like expected.  Thank you!

I have a UI request for the devs to consider.  In BAIN, what are your thoughts about making the label selection (background) color for the sub-packages and plugin filter either lighter (if you keep black font) than a navy blue, or make the font lighter, like white.  White text would match the main packages window.  It's hard to see the text with the current configuration.  Shouldn't take but a minute to change.

If it can be customized via color settings, I've overlooked it.

Malonn out.

Yes, that's what I meant, @Infernio, but that screenie is different than my system.  That shows it exactly as I suggested.  My system is dark blue on black.  Must be a Wine thing.  So, nevermind.
