Just updated to Wrye Bash 307 Beta 6. I uninstalled a mod (Caliente's Beautiful Bodies Enhancer) because the previous version would randomly install a file (mainly eyebrows that weren't chosen) into the data directory into a folder. I wanted to see if this was fixed, but when I uninstalled CBBE and reinstalled it with the FoMod option, Wrye bash just dumped the whole contents of the archive into my data folder numbered like it is in the archive.

I installed the latest version of Wrye Bash from the Nexus.

Is it still possible to change the sizes of the icons on the toolbar?

When I click on the Settings icon, the "Status Bar" menu contains only two entries, "Unhide Buttons" (in grey) and Show App Version.

@PoptartJuniper I can't replicate that. Using CBBE 1.5.6's FOMOD with default options plus selecting one of the eyebrow options, it installed them correctly into the Data folder:

@Skinwalker I've forwarded the issue to Utumno, who refactored the code that's erroring there. However, the issue seems to be caused by a plugin file with an unknown header signature, which should not be possible - so you may have a corrupt file on disk.
@YoJeff328 We disabled it because it hasn't worked for years now (always hard-crashes Wrye Bash when you try) and there doesn't seem to be a way to fix it in the GUI framework we're using. Some people claim it worked in an earlier version, but we haven't actually found one where it does.

Got an error today trying to build my bashed patch to use Arthmoor's Oblivion DLC Delayers as a CBash instead of the regular PBash. I was doing this through MO2, and the regular PBash was working without problems and I could launch oblivion no problem. The CBash version makes me freeze during the initial load for the login screen.

I tried to get this to work 4 times. I have 16 gigs of ram on two seperate 8 gig sticks. Idk if the 4gb patcher for oblivion would change anything here. I haven't used it on Wrye or MO2.

 

 

Worked with the new PBash since it can merge the necessary files now. I hope the above error is helpful for something anyways. =)

The message is telling you exactly what's wrong: CBash ran out of memory. The WIP build is 64bit, so that may help, but if that doesn't fix it you'll have to stick to PBash.

Infernio, do you have formal training in Python?  i.e. Schooling?  Hobbyist, self-taught type?

Actually @PoptartJuniper, could you try again with the latest nightly (307.202005131856)? I think it might have been due to you having 'Has Extra Directories' enabled on that file, which wasn't working correctly with some FOMODs.

CS, eh?  That's cool.  I'm learning Python as well.  I focus my attention on 3.x, not 2.x, but it's a fun language, and easy to catch on to.  I like that it doesn't require compiling like C# and C++ (etc.).  I believe I read that it's probably the most popular language in the world right now.

Hello, I'm new to this forum. I'm using Wrye Bash since about 3 years as my main mod manager. I very much like recent additions to it, so a big thank you for that!

I use the new fomod installation feature very often and it has only few issues (most of them due to some unusual mod packaging structure).

Rarely I encounter situations with a crash or where UI is blocked so I have to kill it with the task manager.

First time I was surprised that all changes I had done to the mod list were lost.

So my suggestion is the following:

After each mod installation (optionally) store the changed mod-list to disk.

This will be especially helpful in situations where I install a lot of patches for a larger mod and one of them causes issues.

All mod managers can fail like this one way or the other.  Loose your entire load order, fail to install part of a mod, etc.  That is why I don't use them to install mods.  If I can't figure out how to install a fomod mod, I don't use it.  Almost always I can.  There really is no good reason to use software to install mods.  Wrye Bash is good for other things though.

Yes. I know how to install mods and figure these things out. But that takes time. With Wry Bash I'm much more productive in trying out mods, updating / removing / replacing them until I have a satisfactory mod installation for a game. A lot of mods have slightly modified packages done by me.

Click on the gear icon at the bottom, then click 'Save Settings'. That will save your settings & data immediately.
Doing it every time a mod is installed would be difficult, because we'd be asking BAIN to save its data while it's still changing its internal data (due to the mod installation). Plus it might not be a feature some people want so it would have to be opt-in - and we don't have a great settings menu right now (which will be coming, but isn't there yet).

Thanks.  Maybe it would be better to do the save before processing the new mod.  

My wish list:

1) A way to import manually installed mods and not spank me for manually installing.  I see that I can drag/drop zips of manually installed mods to the installer page.  Not as handy as automatically detecting installed mods, but ok.  Your docs say that I should be able to place installers in the /game/mods directory, but that doesn't seem to work.  Not /game/skyrim mods either.  When I drag/drop, files don't appear in those directories.  So I guess you are storing them somewhere on C:.  I put as little personal files there as possible, which reduces the probability that such files will be lost in a computer catastrophe.  

The good thing is that I can drag/drop zips of mods that I no longer use that have left behind gazillions of scripts, textures, meshes, sound files, etc.  I can then uninstall them and WB finds all those left behinds and removes them.  Sooooo Good.

2) for fomod zips, I would really like it if WB could notify me when a zip is poorly constructed and refuse to install it.  Also, if for some reason, WB is unable to extract and place a file that is in the zip, please tell me that and tell me which file didn't go.

1. Not [Game]\Mods, but [Game] Mods. So at the same level where you have your Skyrim folder, there will also be a Skyrim Mods folder (will generally be something like D:\Steam\steamapps\Skyrim Mods). The Bash Installers folder inside that folder houses the installers, and you can manually drop them in there. So the full path will look something like D:\Steam\steamapps\Skyrim Mods\Bash Installers.
If you're using the WIP version, you can also open this folder directly via File > Open Folder while on the Installers tab.

2. BAIN code is still fairly uncharted waters, and refactoring it is a 308 goal. Once that's done, we'll be able to have the same feature as MO2 where you can just manually pick the 'root' folder inside the archive when an fomod is not recognized.
As for the second part, that sounds like a bug - do you have a link to an archive with which that happens?

As for the second part, that sounds like a bug - do you have a link to an archive with which that happens?

1) Found it.  steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition Mods.  But no Open Folder in the File menu in the individual file context menu.  I do see Open (opens winzip), Rename, Duplicate, Hide, Delete.  I don't see a File menu available outside of the context menu.

2) I long ago stopped using mod managers to install mods, so I don't have a recent example.  I do know that it is possible to skip files, especially very large files or when a zip contains a long list of texture/mesh files.  From my side of the issue, it is very hard to detect a missing file out of a few thousand.  And when I get ctd's, I want to know that it is the fault of the mod and not the mod manager.  So how about something like this:  Bain gathers a list of file names that a zip contains, and then, after extraction, checks the hd to make sure that every one of them is in place?  All required subdirectories are created?  And maybe a zip integrity check before extracting?

1: I mean the 'File' menu at the top. Only available in the latest nightly build (second post here), in older builds you have to right click the columns.

2: BAIN already does this. It checks if all files are installed and match the package, that's what the colored checkboxes to the left of each package mean. Green=OK, Yellow=Conflict loser for non-plugin files, Orange=Conflict Loser with one or more plugin files (.esp, .esm, etc.), Red=one or more missing files. If you suspect that BAIN somehow missed a refresh, you can right click the package and choose 'Quick Refresh' to force a recheck of all files in that package (or right click the columns and choose 'Full Refresh' to do it for all your BAIN packages).

Edit: And zip integrity should be checked automatically by 7zip, BAIN directly calls 7zip.exe for all its extraction/listing/compressing needs.

1)  Found it.

2) It is very hard for color vision challenged people like me to detect pastel shades.  Bright red, bright green, bright yellow would be good.  Even better would be to use something besides color.  Some people are worse off than me.  In my display I see light gray (orange?), yellow green, dark gray, white.  You said 4 colors, I see 5.
