[RELz] Oblivion DLC Delayers

Version 1.0.2

Corrected a form ID mismatch on the Thieves Den quest activation item so that it was being injected for the proper DLC.

Just curious- does it actually make any difference if this was activated before running the BP in that it checks all tags on all mods on the build? If DLC Delayers were active wouldn't it just de-activate it anyway?

It isn't technically necessary to incorporate into a bashed patch if you have all of the DLCs. Of course if you do that after you've been using it for awhile then the game will think you removed it and reset everything once it's in the bashed patch.

Rather late in the game, but I'm just getting back to playing after being away for several years... Could you parameterize the fame requirement for Knights of the Nine? As usual my fame is already over 10 before I've even had a chance to visit Anvil. The game is just too easy on handing out fame points! I probably shouldn't even install KotN until I'm ready to play it, but I like to get my load order set up at the start. I also need all the locations and characters in place for other mod development.

Obviously I can fix this to suit my tastes if you're done with Oblivion, but I just thought I'd ask.

Been asked about it before but as I am not doing any OB stuff short of genuine bug fixes it's not something that's likely to happen. And I'm honestly not sure I'd want to do that anyway since I can easily see it being something someone sets, then forgets about, and I get told there's a bug where none exists.

An ini file setting? Anyway doesn't matter, as I said, I can set it. I need to tweak SM's delayers too, so it's a wash. Having notes for the rest works much better for me. :)

I have never agreed with the way BOSS sticks official content scattered throughout the load order so when I built the DLC Delayers they were built with the following order on their masters:

00  Oblivion.esm
01  DLCHorseArmor.esp
02  DLCOrrery.esp
03  DLCFrostcrag.esp
04  DLCThievesDen.esp
05  DLCVileLair.esp
06  DLCMehrunesRazor.esp
07  Knights.esp
08  DLCBattlehornCastle.esp

This is the chronologically correct order of the releases and since that's how the community has always handled it it never made any sense to me that BOSS would deviate from this and never bother to fix that even years later. I'm sure I'd probably get some kind of lecture from people about how I'm not toeing the FCOM line by doing things this way but IMO nobody should ever have been expected to deviate from norms just for FCOM's sake.

In any case, I click on the file in Bash and don't see this error, nor do I get one while building. So I'd suggest reporting it in the Bash thread since I have no idea what could even cause that. It shouldn't matter for a merge mod anyway as far as I've always understood it.

BOSS 2.3.2 still scattered around the DLC.  I agree, the masterlist should be corrected and AFAIK mhahn123 on TAL is the one who is currently updating the masterlist for BOSS.

If I install all the DLC's and have them activated, the error goes away. I deactivated Knights because I don't want to play that one, and the error comes back. It appears that it doesn't like the missing dialogue when Knights.esp is missing.

Have you tried this with one of more of the masters missing? I guess I can edit your plugin to set the fame to some ridiculous value so Knights never kicks in.

I am having the same thing as you are.  I don't want to play the Mehrunes Razor and the Vile Lair's DLC.  I even consider not to play KotN.

What will or should I say what can happen when rebuilding the bashed patch in WB without having all DLC activated?

The ones that have Bash Tags will have their records imported, I believe.  So, you'll have some stray records.  Best to hide them before building the Patch.

That was I did and so far everything seems to work.

However, now I can't find the chest for the Frostcrag Spire DLC and yesterday I discover the location on my own and despite no chest can be found and I have looked everywhere.

The problem, I admit my problem, is that I don't remember where the chest was placed the last time I played Oblivion which happen a couple of years ago.

I did find an abandoned camp near the Frostcrag Spire, so I looked there, but no chest with the key and the deed inside could be found.

@ArthmoorI even tried LOOT to sort my loadorder in Oblivion and every DLC was placed directly after the Unofficial Shivering Isle Patch, but was not in the chronical order you listed.  The Battlehorn Castle was loaded after the Orrey and above the remaining DLC.

I took a picture in-game, just to show where the abandoned camp is.

I need to ask.  Does the Oblivion DLC Delayers requires all DLC in order to work properly?

The reason I ask is simple, because in my current game I don't use the Mehrunes Razor DLC and the Vile Lair's DLC.  I can't find the quest triggered note for the Horse Armor DLC, Thieves Den DLC, Shivering Isle DLC, and I still have to check the Battlehorn Castle DLC and The Orrey DLC, but something tells me that I won't find a note about these DLC's.

Also, your advice to make sure the Oblivion DLC Delayers.esp is selected in the Merged Patches in the bashed patch isn't acurrate, because when I right click on the Oblivion DLC Delayers.esp to check what bash tags it has I only saw three bash tags and in the Merged Patches section it wasn't listed.  Below is what bash tags it has.

Quote

When you build your bashed patch, make sure this mod is selected in the "Merge Patches" and "Import Scripts" sections.

Deactivate
Filter
Scripts

Now, I know you have more knowledge about the bash tags than me, but shouldn't the Oblivion DLC Delayers.esp also have the Merged Patch (whatever it's called) bash tag too in order to be listed in those sections.

Which is not listed with the three bash tags I listed and I dunno how I can add the Oblivion DLC Delayers.esp to the Merged Patches section in the bashed patch, except for manually adding a fourth bash tag.

If it matters I use the WB 307 update that KranaZoli posted here.

It's working as it should, so you can ignore this if you want to. :)

I think there is something wrong with both the levelled lists and your Oblivion DLC Delayers mod, because I dunno how many times I've done exactly the same thing.

Still I can't find the chest near the entrance at Frostcrag Spire and I know where it should be placed in-game, because it was TES4LODGen that showed me the coordinates which is 15,35.

Are those coordinates correct?

If you can confirm that then I suspect something isn't right with WB307 and right now I am using the Wrye Bash 307.201807311531 build, which I must use otherwise I cannot install Oblivion XP 4.4.5 due to an error in WB.

My bad, I forgot to add my current loadorder.

I don't think a placed chest is a leveled list thing.  It's a cell, specifically, placed object thing.  The contents of the chest could be a leveled list.  Perhaps a later loading mod alters the same cell?  Or a patch for the mod that placed the chest removes it?  Are you comfortable with TES4Edit?  Finding the cell and then chest with your full load order will let you know.

I think you misunderstood what I meant.  What I mean is that I may have an issue with the levellled lists, because certain items and to be more precise it's both armor and weapons.

I have visit a lot of vendors (traders, smiths, specialized vendors like Marus Rufos at the Best Defence) in-game and every one of them have exactly the same armor, especially light armor e.g Leather Armor.

All that started to be more frequent after rebuilding the bashed patch in CBash while that never happen when rebuilding the bashed patch normally (PBash) and that looks normal to me in-game as it adds more variation.

Also, despite for installing everything from scratch exactly the same thing happen to the levelled lists after I rebuilt the bashed patch in CBash.  Now, the levelled lists seems somehow to be corrupt, because it lacks variation in-game.

Leveled lists aren't going to have anything to do with what the delayer has placed and what's inside each container since none of it uses lists to populate the items.

The chest for Frostcrag is outside on the ledge on the same level as the front door.

I know, but I just want to share my observation nothing else.

So, the coordinates is 15,35?

I think you find this error interesting as it shows that WB does NOT merge the Oblivion DLC Delayers.esp correctly into the bashed patch when rebuilding the bashed patch in CBash.

I had no other choice then to scrap everything due for having a Steam application error twice and when that happen I knew it was a waste of time trying to fix it.

Fresh installation with only your Alternate Beginnings and the Oblivion DLC Delayers mod installed, because I didn't want to go through the entire tutorial dungeon without your alternate start mod.

YES!!! :dancing::dancing::dancing::dancing::dancing:

Finally, I was able to collect every note about the DLC quests plus finding the chest near the entrance of Frostcrag Spire while playing the Oblivion - 5th Anniversary Edition. :D

But you should know that I didn't do that with the Steam version of Oblivion, instead I simple gave up of trying and after several attempts e.g reinstallations, WB errors, and a stupid application error in Steam I uninstalled Oblivion (Steam) for good this time. :obliviongate:

The chest for Frostcrag is outside on the ledge on the same level as the front door.

It is since I found the chest in a modded Oblivion (retail), but I couldn't find the chest in the Steam version.

So, I guess that you need to create a Steam version of your Oblivion DLC Delayers mod and I think that make sense.

No, you need to figure out why you can't get the Steam version to run right. Mods don't care what version of the game you apply them to.

Then why did I find every note plus the chest with the deed and the key with exactly the same mods in Oblivion (retail)?

But couldn't find every note plus the chest in Oblivion (Steam) with the same mods as I now use in the retail version.

Because you did something wrong with your Steam setup. There's no difference between that, retail, GoG, or any of the other digital distribution method it used to use back in the day. And it's also unreasonable to just demand that someone go buy another copy of the game from a different platform just to deal with something like this.

I tried a couple of times to find those notes and the chest, but could I hell no I couldn't.  I also installed mods exactly the same way in Steam as I did in retail.

Version 1.0.3

A corrupted script variable was discovered on the edits to DLCDeepscornScript which could lead to it not initializing the check state properly.

Hi arthmoor

A question about this mod and I just want to make sure I'm installing it correctly.

using wrye bash ... as always. The plugin is tagged Deactivate, Filter, scripts, test, And these are either native or added by LOOT.

It would seem then examining this that not all DLC need be added into the load order as it is gonna behave like a filter patch mod? yes/no? So I can just have the good ones - understanding that is a subjective statement. If this is correct then this alone makes this the best there is on the market of ideas.

Unfortunately,

I'm testing with alternate start mod by prince schroob Main quest delayer. and it seems that it works during the character creation process, which takes place on a ship in that mod, but then after being deposited to wherever you start the game ... all the DLC notices come crashing in anyway, Didn't seem to happen without that alt start mod .. like with your own alternative beginnings and the one by LenaWolfBravil.

In the readme it says ...

Quote

COMPATIBILITY:
This should be compatible with practically any mod -- that isn’t another alternate start mod, of course.
If you have any of Bethesda’s official plugins, their popups will appear once you exit the starting area.

So there it is an incompatible mod. Darn it! Thought I had that magic combo down.

I will make a request on that mod to remove that or an option to ... and just probably edit my own copy and keep it to myself.

So take this as an FYI I guess.

[edit] oh and um I guess the top comment by dopeyfish states this:

My recommended alt-start mod!  It's fairly easy to get to work with DLC delayers if you're comfortable with the construction set.  I got it to work perfectly with Oblivion DLC Delayers by deleting the main quest journal check in DLC Delayers scripts (not needed at all, especially with this mod), and commenting out the DLC starts in this mod.  Now works great, and no more pop-ups!

I made some personal edits with the starting equipment and conditions, like changing the time to night if you pick starting as a vampire, for instance.  Also made the skills that originally didn't have any equipment contribute in a way (like mercantile & speechcraft gives more starting gold, etc.)

So there is my answer. Now if only it worked better with KR

First off, yes, my DLC Delayers mod is set up as a filter and will only activate those parts you have DLCs for. This does mean that if you want other DLCs to be included you'd need to rebuild the patch immediately upon adding them to the game.

I've been over my scripts to see what the activation conditions are for each of the DLCs and none of them should be spamming startup quests at all. Every one of them is set to only come up once you've interacted with some part of it. Like for example the Horse Armor one only becomes active when you read a note, or Frostcrag only becoming active when you've found the chest with the deed in it (which is at the tower). They all specifically initialize to stop those notices from coming up, and it is done in a way that's independent of any alt-start mods. So I'm not sure why Shroob's in particular would be setting it off this way. Unless of course the Bashed Patch isn't active or didn't import the data correctly.
