Yesterday I started a new game and everything is working until I came to the point where the player always got attacked in vanilla by a least one wolf perhaps two.

 

I haven't done this before so it's hard to tell if it should be like this or not, but TBH I think one wolf is somehow bugged because I couldn't kill it and it seems to me that the wolf (0009b0db if that's the correct ID) was immortal.

 

No matter what I do (kill cam moves just stops every time I hit the wolf) the wolf couldn't be killed as long the another wolf lies dead on the road, but once the dead wolf vanish the *immortal* wolf could be killed.

This is also a bit weird because I also got infected (Rockjoint disease) by the *immortal* wolf and I couldn't cure myself twice with a cure disease potion (I added two cure disease potions) instead I needed to *cure it* via the console player.removespell 000b8782 command.

I always see this in the Papyrus log and I wonder.  Is that normal?  If it's normal then why is the Papyrus log spammed with this line perhaps it's baked-in save information.

As you can see I don't use mods that alter wolf or other creatures and this happen in a fresh game without starting or completed the MQ101Unbound.

I'm cuious about how this mod works. How far does it go in starting you out anew? What I mean is, is there any ability to choose how skilled I am at certain stuff instead of the flat 15 in all skills? Say I want to be a master wizard that knows lots of spells or a swordsman with 100 skill in those skills and full perks. I understand that's kind of cheatish but it would certainly further enhance my ability to customize how I want to start out for sure.

There is none of that, you can pick a new start location and you'll get equipment suitable to your choice but you'll still be level 1 with the standard racial skills and abilities.

I have an interesting "bug" or otherwise a case of 'Don't do that!". I started a new game with this mod and started as a vampire. I ran my way to Helgen and read the burnt guys journal. Quest was telling me to goto either the cave at the end of the keep or Riverwood. For lores sake I decided to go to the cave and say hi to Ralof and Hadvar. Knowing that going through the keep would get me to the cave I decided to go through there to get to the other end.

 

Well this is when things fell apart, literally!. It started caving in like it would in the normal game. but going down to the area with the cages it caved in on both sides of the hall blocking my path. I was unsure if this was intended or not so I used tcl to go through it. Went down to the cage are and found 3 Stormcloaks just standing around. I proceeded through and found it blocked again where you drop the bridge down. I tcl through that and down to the cave expected to find Ralof and Hadvar. Well I didn't and it pointed me to go outside. Then it pointed me back inside to where I found them.

 

 

TL;DR: Am I blonde and did something I shouldn't have by going through the keep?

You entered through the wrong side of the cave. Using the console to play should be a hint that you're doing something wrong :P

Yep that's intentional and normal to enter the cave from the exterior and NOT from an interior.

Version 2.3.6

Reworked the method for setting Tullius and Ulfric aside. They will both be disabled temporarily instead of trying to move them around to confine them. The only exceptions now will be for soldier starts, which don't require going to Helgen, and the campsite start, which triggers the events that would re-enable them both anyway. This should avoid some previously unknown Papyrus timing issues that were getting in the way too.
Hilde's scene in Riverwood after Alduin has appeared should now play out properly if the player visits Riverwood before advancing Before the Storm (MQ102).
Start options for Solitude will now be disabled if Giskard's Return to Helgen is installed.
The second collapse inside Helgen Keep has been removed and any live soldiers that needed to be killed will be. This allows access to the whole keep in order to loot it if desired. The bridge collapse will remain in place though so you will still need to go around to the other side if you want to rescue Hadvar or Ralof.
A dialogue bug with Irileth if the player told Sven about the dragon attack instead of Alvor or Gerdur was fixed.
Retro script update messages will only be logged if they should actually run.

Interesting update.  Sounds like you still need to tweak something in every update once it's narrowed down to exactly what it's. :D

It's also quite maddening because that Tullius/Ulfric problem will hide quietly, mocking me, then one day BAM it just happens and won't stop. The startup for this mod demands so much from Papyrus in so short a time I suppose it's a wonder it all works as well as it does :P

Was there a quick update?  Because I notice the version number weren't 2.3.6 instead it was 2.3.6a or have I missed something. :)
 
Also a suggestion for a new starting location.  How about the player start the game as a released prisoner just how it was in Morrowind?
 
locations

  • released from prison in each hold (Markath, Riften, Solitude, Whiterun, Windhelm, Winterhold, Falkreth, Dawnstar, Morthal)
  • released by boat on Solstheim due to the evacuation of Vvardenfell (if you have Dragonborn installed)
  • released from prison (random location if you pick the Surprise me option)

 

Surprise Me

Random roll that will pick one of the above. The standard Helgen start will not be included in this. Race specific starts will only apply if the player's race matches.

 

 

You don't have armor or weapon, but do you have a little more money just so you can afford to buy the equipment you need by not breaking the law.

Exit the Farmhouse, in front of you is a chopping block with an axe leaning up against it, or it should be but it falls over every time you leave the farmhouse.

Version 2.3.7

Dunmer can now choose whether to start in Windhelm or in Raven Rock (if Dragonborn is installed).
The Dunmer start in previous versions failed to properly advance the DLC2Init quest to stage 100. This resulted in numerous quests on Solstheim not being started when they should be. This has now been fixed but cannot be applied retroactively since some quests could have been started through other means. If you wish to make it fix itself anyway, just walk on to the boat in Raven Rock and the trigger there will do this for you.
The inn patron start option will now offer the chance to start in Raven Rock if Dragonborn is installed. This works for any race.
Several old scripts that should have been cleaned out ages ago have been removed.
Shady Sam will now carry his traditional vendor inventory once you have made your way to Helgen.
Syncronized fixes from USKP 2.0.4.

One thing I've been wondering about. Specifically Skyrim's system where a cell's 'level' is fixed the first time a player enters that cell. With the necromancer start, does this mean Blackreach becomes fixed at level 1 when the player leaves the house.

Blackreach has a minimum level of 18 set in its encounter zone. It isn't as big of an issue as certain parties who shall remain unnamed have suggested.

found something odd today: i spoke with the statue of mara and chose the inn start in riverwood as i usually do when testing some mods.

once i finished the conversation i had a change of hearts and spoke with the statue again (i wanted to test some windhelm textures).

i entered the "chose which inn you are a patron of" dialog branch again only to realize there is no inn option in windhelm at which point i simply left the conversation.

after that i activated the bed, expecting to end up in riverwood. instead i ended up in the four star inn in dragons bridge.

 

is this something expected?

It is. First, the inn options don't use the walled cities, mainly for variety of start locations.

 

Second, when you exit a branch without picking something it randomizes that particular branch, just as if you'd picked "Surprise Me".

Interesting observation.  Thus I've never encounter like this myself, so perhaps there is something that isn't right here.

 

I didn't know that about exiting the dialogue with Mara without chosen a starting location automatically select the random starting location.  Good to know.

Version 2.4.0

The starting prison cell location has been relocated to the Abandoned Prison in Eastmarch. Across the road/river from Fort Amol. This has been done to provide access to a new start option.
The farmhouse start has been relocated to a new plot of land north of Rorikstead. The property name has also been changed from Karnsdale Farmhouse to Shoal's Rest Farm. The interior cell was not affected, so there is no need to worry about losing anything inside.
All vanilla edits to faction data have been removed. Faction relationships will now be exclusively handled in the DLC support script.
The starting journal entries have removed mention of going to Helgen, and the initial objective to ask about war rumors has been removed. In order to pursue the startup quest, go to an innkeeper and ask about rumors. One of them will now deal with the operation in Helgen.
Removed several unused silent voice files that were floating around.
New start added: Erik the Slayer's childhood friend. Only available to Nords.
New start added: Escape My Cell.
New start added: Warlock's Thrall.

All vanilla edits to faction data have been removed. Faction relationships will now be exclusively handled in the DLC support script.
The starting journal entries have removed mention of going to Helgen, and the initial objective to ask about war rumors has been removed. In order to pursue the startup quest, go to an innkeeper and ask about rumors. One of them will now deal with the operation in Helgen.
Removed several unused silent voice files that were floating around.
New start added: Erik the Slayer's childhood friend. Only available to Nords.
New start added: Escape My Cell.
New start added: Warlock's Thrall.

So you like my idea of a "being release from prison" option just how it was in Morrowind.

 

I also notice that LAL now is 2.4.0 and not the 2.3.8 or 2.3.9 version.  Have you simple skipped these version numbers because 2.4.0 had too many things that was either added or removed?

I hesitated to post this, but....

 

The lighting for character creation is too bright and makes the character's skin tones washed out. Ones like WRInteriorLightYellow while bright, don't over expose skin tones.

 

Maybe it's growing on me. I've been doing a lot of testing, which involved creating lots of new characters.

The Fruit of Labor quest when taking the Shoal's Rest farm start does not clear out of the journal after going and picking up the gold.  Is this because it will continue to have weekly reminders for the remainder of the game or something else?

 

I just find it odd to have a quest in the journal that has every objective met, makes me think something got messed up.  :P
