Skyrim 1.7.99 is still not working, wait or downgrade?

So Skyrim once again is borked, There seems to be issues (at least with me anyway) with Mods that have been updated like address library for example and it's dependent mods not working together. Some of the respective Mod authors are saying their updates are correct and not being updated again. So I'm at a crossroads. Do I wait it out, (maybe another Bethesda update is coming?) or should I downgrade with something like Reliquary ( which is something I don't actually want to do.) I'm Leary about how long this is going to drag on for, one author told me he expects it to take a couple of months to resolve and won't update until then.

The game also updated again to 1.7.104. The important mods like SKSE and Address Library have already been updated, however, mods that rely on Address Library also need to be updated and that's where the bottleneck comes from.

Another update, I guess Beth is struggling to figure out how they messed up, maybe they used AI. But seriously I think some of the Mod Authors are getting a little annoyed and frustrated, especially someone who really has very limited time to devote to updating. I usually wait it out but this time it does seem like it's going to be awhile before we can play again. That's why I'm looking into downgrading. I suspect that once all the updates are done I can always upgrade back up to the current version. Just trying to see if anyone has an opinion on that. I'm still trying to be convinced.

So long as the SKSE DLLs you're waiting on have been updated for 1.7.99, the subsequent 1.7.104 isn't going to be an issue since SKSE itself and Address Library got updated for 1.7.104 already.

This sort of thing is why I intentionally limit my use of DLL mods. I don't like being handcuffed to a certain version of the game and I see no real value to the community at large in being held back. The grand majority of players updated their games and had no issues because the DLL mods are not nearly as popular and embedded as a lot of people think they are.

Yeah they end up being a real ball and chain and I'm thinking about scaling back my use of them. On another note I want to bring this next issue to your attention and see what you think. As I stated earlier I began looking into the downgrade mods and found something unsettling. One popular mod that Nexus claims is safe (Reliquary) requires you to give them your log-in information to steam either by filling in their supplied log-in box or by using a "safer" Q.R. code to your phone. The Author is supposed to be highly respected member of Nexus but I've been repeatedly told not to never do that by all the IT people I know and trust. The QR code alone gives access to all your information on your phone and can be sold and used  for nefarious means. But I see hundreds of users happily using this mod. I would like to bring this to the attention of Nexus but I'm not sure how I will be received maybe even banned. Your thoughts?

Personally I've never heard of this "Reliquary" mod and a search on Nexus only has a mod called Reliquary of Myth which is an overhaul, not a downgrader. However, a mod asking for personal information to use it would be a big fat NO for me.

There are other downgraders out there if you feel you really want to continue playing and can't wait, such as this Best of Both Worlds Downgrader by a reliable author.

Big caveat; Keep your 1.6.1170 version of USSEP because you'll never find it available again (it's already been updated).

I'm with Hana on this one. NEVER supply login information of any sort to an unknown 3rd party. Especially if it's fishing for your Steam credentials. No modding tool of any sort needs that. IMO you should report the file you encountered this with as potential malware for asking for those credentials.

Anyone who gets ahold of those has full access to your account and can easily steal all your games from you that way.

Well, I let Nexus know and the moderator claims that it's a legit mod and a legit mod author, even though he admits he would never give them the log-in info himself. I don't know about Nexus sometimes, I don't blame you for leaving.
