I know this is all speculation at the moment, but if an Oblivion remake is released and if Bethesda allows modding, and releases the tool(s) needed, would the unofficial patch team consider creating an Unofficial Oblivion Remake Patch?

Just to be perfectly clear here for anyone stumbling on this months (or years) from now. No such remake is coming. All of the leakers to date have said it would be out already and it's obviously not here and Bethesda has made absolutely no noise about it at all. They would have by this point if it were real.

That said, if they do such a thing down the road, like maybe for the 20th anniversary next year, then the existence of a UOP for the remake would depend on interest in buying it and such. There's a good chance they'd end up with the same bugs because it would be unlikely they'd invest time into that in addition to the remake itself. So at least as far as plugin data would be concerned it might be possible to convert the existing UOP over minus the mesh and texture work which would obviously be obsolete.

Now. I'd suggest doing yourself a favor and waiting for Skyblivion to release later this year instead. Cause I and many others are 100% convinced that this is what these so-called leakers are confusing themselves with.

On a related note, if a remake does come, the UOP won't suddenly stop. Even if it allows modding it will take years before the modding ecosystem is up and running, so we'll likely keep going with the UOP sporadically as currently.

That would be absolutely retarded if the so called leakers confuse a remake with Skyblivion, also what does UOP mean? Unofficial Oblivion Project

UOP = Unofficial Oblivion Patch.

If you hover over anything with the dotted underline the site will tell you what it means.

When did we add that?

It's been part of the site ever since we switched to IPB. The definitions were set up years ago.

This topic is alread here so I guess I'll just say it. Yes, we have seen the screenshots, yes we are surprised. No, we do not currently have any concrete plans. We'll have to see what mod-ability is like first.

Forbes, like many others, has fallen victim to a falsity. Dig deep enough and you'll find the only "source" came from whoever hacked the Virtuous Games server and uploaded files that don't prove anything other than the AI image generators that were used aren't half bad.

It could be real, but I'll believe it when it releases. If there was a video of game-play maybe it would be more believable instead of still images.

Edit: Also...It was originally said that this was just going to be using UE to render what was already in the game, yet there are clearly new models and textures in those shots, not to mention differences in item placement. Wouldn't that be more in line with a remake, not a remaster?

Well according to the supposed leaks, we'll know by this time next week.

It has been confirmed! Woohoo!!!

Temper your expectations. All they've confirmed is that they're going to livestream something tomorrow about Oblivion.

IF this turns out to be a remaster, my guess is they'll announce it's coming and it will be released in March 2026 for the 20th anniversary.

My guess for something else would be that it's going to be for an Amazon Prime series about Oblivion similar to what was done with Fallout.

It looks absolutely amazing - like a brand new AAA title!

...and it's available TODAY!!!

Color us all pleasantly surprised. We'll be looking into it as it appears the remaster's data files are a full CRC match for their OG counterparts. Which would strongly suggest all or most of the classic bugs still exist. Good one Todd :P

Mods are not supported for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.

Does tnis mean all the old tools will work with the remaster's data files?

In which case, why wouldn't they "support" modding? Heck, it should be rather easy for them to support Creation Club across platforms for an additional revenue stream....

Steam alone is reporting a peak of 182,298 simultaneous players yesterday. So Bethesda must have sold quite a few across all platforms.

Reportedly, Bethesda gave a key to all the Skyblivion developers, presumably so they'll stay in sync with whatever gameplay changes were remastered.

No, because there are additional data files that were added that contain all of the changes that were made. At the time of my previous post I hadn't finished downloading everything.

These additional data files have subrecords that xedit doesn't recognize, so we can assume neither with the CS.

I've also been randomly experimenting with trying to load various mods and all they do is crash the game when you approach the content. So it's by no means a given that the game will be as moddable as we'd like.

Topic pinned for the moment.

Well, it's a hack job at best, but some people are reporting success with replacing the BSAs and ESPs of Oldblivion with the new ones and then just using the old editor to create a usable Remaster mod.
Nobody knows what long-term issues this could introduce though.

Anybody known anybody in the OpenMW-CS project? If things are being decoded by the xEdit team, it shouldn't be too hard to update OpenMW-CS to be a cross platform native editor for Oblivion Remastered files.

If those mods aren't using the new AltarESPMain.esp as a master then they'll just break the game. The old CS is not going to be able to process this file correctly because it has new subrecords that did not exist prior to the remaster.
