I think you've understood most of it well enough. And managed to word it nicely enough. I for one do feel for the poor console users. A good reason to go PC indeed. Even a cheap laptop will suffice as I can personally attest, working off of one for months now. Probably at or near the price range of the latest gen console. So if you can manage to purchase one, the other should be within reach.
Lets be clear on some things. Mod authors are not the cause of the dilemma. We were forced to make a decision. For many of us it was something we never would have chosen if left to our own devices. My personal modding adventure began on Nexus. I loved the site, frequented others and uploaded to others, but that was home for over a decade.
Root cause, and/or inconvenience to the end user, in no way diminish the creators right to exercise ownership. Many people over the years have packed up with their stuff and left the modding community. For a number of reasons. Some were sorely missed too. Iliana pulled Elsweyr from the market once upon a time for example. That was their right to do so and it was respected, if not wholly agreed with or understood.
Taking away said right to ownership, through whatever means, is an ugly business. People should think long and hard on whether or not to support any business that would attempt such a thing.

Is this guy for real? How can you tell the person who spent countless hours, days, weeks building mods that they have no right to choose what happens with those mods? Perfect example of why so many really good mod makers have pulled their stuff over the years and simply vanished.

Well I suppose it's a good thing the law does not hinge on your opinion of my rights then.
