  1. 30 Aug 21 Gosh, what a nice big story advancement…new places discovered, but getting rather too close to those awful Falmer things I think. Uncus was lucky to defeat a Troll and yet stay safe from it. Thankfully they are slow of course, but a single hit from those rending claws is often fatal. Again, nicely written sweetie 👍😃
  2. Aw, sweetie, no need for that <chuckles> Maybe I’ll simply go with “Contessa Adella’s stuff” …. Punchy, direct, clear and concise…I like it 😂
  3. Back in the day, when the Duke boys were running ‘shine…..Cath had her legs insured for over a million bucks. I insure my oppai assets at 1M Septims….Each! A girl can’t be too careful when tomb raiding huh! A.
  4. AE is a cash grab by Bethesda plain and simple. They know enough fans will be eager to pay yet again for another very slightly different version. So….Lets see then….10 million customers x 30 bucks a throw = Shedloads of easy cash! Well, ok they might not hook 10M this time around, but it will be more than enough to make the bait worth making. Mods: I doubt we can simply eject the SE disk and load in the AE disk without affecting our current LO or mod Reserve on console. And no….A console user can not simply reload the desired mods again. Most of us who have played Skyrim on console for years have a large number of treasured, but now ‘greyed out’, mods which are unavailable for re-download. I won’t be destroying my game for the ability to use CC stuff I never wanted in the first place…. A.
  5. No! The building shaked the moment you came in…😂

This is what happens when my host takes a snooze on the job!
  7. All my videos (currently 600+ of them) are on my YT channel “Contessa Adella”. Or just do a You Tube search on “Skyrim Adella” and that will pop them up Thank you for asking A.
  8. Hmmm….I can’t ‘Live stream’ per se, but I am making a complete, consecutive, back to back video series of my entire “Black Diamond” playthrough. It has plenty of thrilling fights and very close calls. This is effectively the same as for anyone watching live stream material after the stream session has ended. However, before anyone gets excited….It is a genuine Dead is Dead play….and no one wants to get invested in the unfolding action if it is going to shockingly end in tears huh? Therefore, let me finish it first, then if I survived right through, I will upload it. What it covers: The Skyrim Main Quest and probably the Companions, CoW and Bard’s plus full Lakeview build. Why is it hard? Because it is level one right through…no perks, no health level ups, no magic 2x foes and on Legendary. Plus it is difficult to improve the build at all once underway. Believe me when I say this IS tougher than any normal (levelling up) Legendary play through I have attempted in all these years. A.
  9. Neither! The invisi walls just halt your movement often with that message, “You can’t go that way”. However, they seem to be joined in sheeted panels…exactly like fencing. Sometimes where a wall goes over a join in textures you can slip between, along the seem. Invisi walls also seem to have a height. I have managed to climb a tall rock near a wall that allows me to jump over it. Of course getting back can often be impossible. Another time I was on the wrong side of a wall when I slid down a steep incline. Suddenly I was stopped and could not go forward. Imagine a sheet of glass rising vertically from the foot of a steep slope…I was trapped between the glass and the rock face. Running against the rock texture eventually after like half an hour got me back to the top and free….still on the wrong side of the barrier of course. Another time in Sovngarde (with Alduin wheeling around the skies), I found the top of an invisi wall high up a mountain…I was able to jump onto the wall top like a narrow invisible plank, and walk along in the sky for a way….Then it came to an (invisible) end, dropping me to another painful demise!
  10. Ha ha ….Yes I did this also when “No Borders” was available on XB1…..Sadly, I lost it and it has since been withdrawn. I have made it something of a personal challenge to find ways to defeat Beth’s ‘invisi walls’ by climbing to seemingly unreachable locations where there are gaps in the walls. You can’t see a gap of course, but persistence pays off and I have managed to get outside of the intended loaded areas on many occasions without mods. Notably: In TES4: I got out of Rythe Lysandas’s ‘painted world’ into the desert beyond. Also outside of Frostfire Glade. In Skyrim: Outside of Skuldafn and outside of the normal bounds of Sovngarde. I still keep looking for a way into Cyrodiil to the Imper City and also into HighRock…without mods/Border disablers. On PC it’s easy with tilda commands….but try it on console😜
  11. Guess I’ll just call it “Not Uncus’ Stuff” then…. or “My Stuff not Your Stuff”….
  12. Are you sure that's not the VLDL guys doing their PUBG sketch? . I think I could do with a place to put my stuff too….I’ll just call it My Stuff…to avoid confusion…..
  13. Ah….I don’t recall seeing any of this! So I just checked the read-me with the OC mod in Bethnet. As I thought…..The Bethnet read-me is an abridged version, but it does not warn you that any info is missing! I did also know about the Windhelm portal…but not the extra one in Solitude near the Bard’s college Anyhow, on the one hand it is nice to now have the full picture, whys and wherefores. On the flip side, I am disappointed that these rock portals are pre-planned and not some fascinating quirk of the mod construction. The npc behaviour in using them is at least still quirky and amusing…..
  14. Hmmm….As far as I can ascertain ALL the vanilla quests are available in the Open Cities (OC)…but you seem to be saying Arthmoor created these portal zones deliberately…odd then they are not ‘signposted’ or explained huh! Yes, as I said I think ‘Immersive Citizens’ could be pathing npcs to the right location in the wrong city. The odd thing are those who travel back and forth. Adrianne spends most of her time in OC, but visits CC from time to time….Like she’s frikkin alive and deciding for herself Oh one further quirk…..In Riften Aerin was missing, so Mjoll stood silent and not moving in OC Riften. I found him in CC Riften and get this….When I spoke to him, he then followed me back to OC Riften and took up position with Mjoll triggering her dialogue correctly….AND he is now remaining in OC Riften even starting a new game. So how he got himself into CC Riften, or why, is a mystery. Hopefully Art will pour some light on this for us…or me at least
  15. I use Open Cities on XBox1S Art. I don’t know if this is a bug, or just a consequence of the mod mechanic, but it is….amusing. I am not aware of it being raised by anyone else, although I did discuss the odd mod behaviour back in Bethnet. Right, so, I was wondering where some of the Whiterun npcs had gone and why later in the day they usually showed their faces again, a few like Brenuin the tramp, could almost never be found in the city. Then, by chance, standing near Jorrvaskr I noticed an npc walk to a rock near the wall and bend forward in the stance of the usual door opening ani. Sure enough, they despawned. I investigated the rock and spotted the Action text “Open Whiterun”. I clicked it and had loading screen pop up. When I spawned…I was still in Whiterun in the exact same place….BUT….it was not “Open Cities” (OC) Whiterun, but the original Closed Cities (CC) Whiterun. Like an alternate universe ha! However, this CC Whiterun would not allow me to use doors to buildings, but did usefully have a complete duplicate set of harvestable ingredients! A large contingent of the OC missing npcs were indeed going about normal business in CC Whiterun…and periodically they would use the Rock Portal to return to OC Whiterun. Upon further nosing around I discovered a second “Open Whiterun” Action text at another Rock…the one at the end of the stone bridge outside Adrianne’s forge. This portal simply worked the same as the one outside Jorrvaskr. A final twist is if you leave the closed city by the main gate…you get the usual loading screen and spawn outside the OC main gate….which can then be opened up as usual to allow entry with no loading screen. The only inconvenience of this weirdness is sometimes a missing npc is needed in OC Whiterun to activate a dialogue. A real example is that little exchange where Olfrid and Idolaf verbally bully Fralia Grey-mane at her market stall. If Idolaf..or Olfrid have gone visiting CC Whiterun…well the dialogue stalls because they can’t contribute. So….why do some npcs seek out the ‘portal stones’ to the alternative Whiterun? I think I have reasoned it out. Their routes are driven by their daily routines and/or the ‘Immersive Citizens’ mod. The pathing seems happy to get them to their intended destination either within OC or by going through a stone to reach the identical destination in CC Whiterun…it doesn’t know the difference. Finally….What about other Skyrim gated cities? So, naturally I checked them out…and sure enough Markarth, Riften and Solitude all have at least one portal stone with Action Text that transports you..and some npcs…to the original Closed City. This is interesting….I use the ‘Public Executions’ (call it PE) mod in Solitude….yes I know we should not use mods which affect a city when Open Cities is installed. Despite PE being active in my LO, it does not appear in Open Cities….but get this…..It DOES show up, and function correctly, in the alternate Closed City Solitude, which we can access through the portal rock (between the execution stage and the main gate). This is useful to me because I like the PE special bandit capturing dagger sold be the mod’s Quarter Master. If this is old news, please forgive my enthusiasm because it was new to me and quite fascinating. Adella
  16. Circling the argument….I am now going to invoke Pseron’s premiss! “How do we know that some Giants are not female.” A
  17. How very….human. To assume the necessity of a gender. Ha! Would such a question be asked of a stone? Dragons (of the TES variety) have no visible genetalia, nor cloaca. They do not need to…reproduce, since they are as they have always been…immortal. Well, immortal until some interfering Dragonborn shows up to end them permanently. Now Dragons, at least as far as we have seen, speak with what we recognise as a male tone and refer to each other as ‘He’. However, they were created by Akatosh and the God’s may exert a preference at their whim hmmm! I would conclude them to be closest to the idea of….Eunuchs, by design. A.
  18. Semantics Sigurd. You have to pay for CC ‘creations’ which modify your game huh (apart from promotional freebies of course). Whether the coding is done by a mod author under contract or an in-house dev programmer is a moot point as far as the customer is concerned. In my book the real problem is you can’t try before you buy…and in some cases it is a tangible sum too, not just a couple of bucks. By contrast you can load a mod from nexus or the Beth library and if it does not please as anticipated one can simply archive it, or uninstall, nothing lost for trying. Not so with a CC offering, if it disappoints that's just money down the drain, which soon becomes uneconomic to keep doing hmmm! A.
  19. Well you know why this is….It is the phone texting generation. You know…Five seconds of communicating, with thumbs text tapping keys in an unfathomable blur. But all their ‘chat’ fits within sentences no longer than Twitters 140 char tweet size. Bah! It does rather grind my gears because those of us from last gen…Prefer to hold actual conversations about topics that interest us and this new gen style of making brief meaningless remarks of frankly, in many cases utter drivel, are driving real conversation out of existence. Of course one must not dare to question text tapper motives or you are met with the infuriatingly ignorant “Ok Boomer”. Suffice to say….this is I believe why Beth’s new site has so many people saying so little and any thought put into a response of over two lines is a complete waste of time….
  20. Bethesda told us all, that the initial move to Jive (thus shutting down the old beloved Bethsoft forums) was to enable the hosting of mods on the platform for console players. That was the reason Art. Why the Jive set up could not be enabled just for the mods, and still leave the old forums untouched, was never explained.
  21. Yes…..I do not think that is too cynical a leap. I voiced some time ago the possibility of Creation Club offerings being the only mods eventually allowed. This doesn’t worry PC users because they assume independent mods will always be possible on the likes of nexus (or here etc), but the reality is that the tech and DRM programming is already possible to hamstring the downloaded base games from accepting third party mods without paid for ‘keys’. yes yes, clever hacks will get around locks and encryptions, we know….but….for 99% of regular gamers a DRM type key will stop all modding that Beth does not approve of or get paid to allow. Someone please tell me I can’t be right…it is a horrible idea huh!
  22. This maybe moot, but I think losing a proper forum site is a mistake. You know how Beverly Hills residents just have to have the heated pool….because it is symbolic of status whether used or not. Well, I suspect a studio having a well developed active forum is kind of like that….It shows maturity, and although there is a running cost that itself is a testament to their wealth and position amongst the grown ups of Developer hood. However, the kudos of owning a site for your flagship products seems to have been set aside in the interest of pure bottom line bucks. I sincerely think this is short sighted. Adella
  23. LeBurns: Ha ha ha…Snap! Pseron ninja’d me while I was looking it up in Wiki. In my experience, whilst Disarm IS available for Draugr to use if you are below level 31, they mostly preferentially still use Unrelenting Force. The Draugr boss of Bleakfalls Barrow does however use Disarm quite regularly and sometimes your lost weapon can be near impossible to find. All you need do is put the weapon away before he shouts and you’ll be fine. Once you learn to recognise the audible intake of breath at the start of a shout, you can stow that weapon before the shout strikes, then get the weapon out again right after! Adella
  24. Read journal of 4th Aug. Yes! I know full well that sweaty palmed fear as Falmer pass too close by for comfort. The account realises this well. Ah…The White Wolf…more tribal style spiritualism, let us hope the guardians are well meaning and not self serving or mean. The dream seems to indicate this sprit is innocuous, perhaps it will lead Uncus to more discoveries about himself as much as the world. Again I enjoyed the descriptive art and imaginative locations, of which I understand the Island mod provides only the scene setting. Well done Uncus A.
  25. Just finished reading your latest entry of 1st Aug. The iron smelting and steel production matches the natural yesteryear crafting videos I have seen on YT. Of course even a medieval Smith had better smelting and metal working equipment than poor old Uncus can cobble together from odds and ends. Plus the luxury of limitless experimentation with the recipe and proportions to get it right. However, any of us could in theory make useable steel in the manner Uncus has trialled. Anyway, just wanted to say very well imagined and nicely written
