phatbassanchor 844 Posted January 14, 2022 Had a friend at work many years back who had been blind from birth. He had a wonderful sense of humor, was a great conversationalist and just a fine human being over all. Sometimes the ladies would be taken aback when he held the door open for them. He knew exactly when they were there as well as who was coming. He learned to recognize them all by their scent. He never said so but I knew that was how he did it, their scent and the sound of their voice, how they moved... Yeah... Larry was a pretty amazing guy. Everyone liked him. He was also an avid reader. He always had a book or magazine with him... given that it was always 100% braille with only one small line of print down the spine to allow them to be located by a sighted librarian, Larry was the only man I ever knew who told me, "Playboy, yeah, I read it for the articles." And, I actually believed him! Hahaha He is also the only man I ever knew who was stone bold enough to read Playboy in the cafeteria at work! Hahahahahahaha Well... at least without being fired. His were the only copies of Playboy I had ever seen with no photos... just braille bumps on white pages... I know that Larry would enjoy being remembered that way, honest, forthright, earnest, helpful, cheerful and always with his own uniquely dry twist of humor. So, I freely share that.
