I can't imagine dragons not being there.  I don't know the exactly timeline of TES6, but lore breaking or not they'll be there (lore hasn't been stopping BGS from just doing whatever they want).  Heck they even added them to ESO during a time when dragons weren't supposed to be around.

The real question is, how will they top dragons?  People will want something more than just dragons.

Yeah, you've always got to have something bigger and badder which eats the previous big-bad-thing as a breakfast until the whole world becomes a very silly place.

You just described the Jurassic Park films.

I thought Dragons were the most impressively designed creatures Bethesda Game Studios has ever created. Modeling, animation, sound design - everything was superb.  They never fail to fill me with awe and wonder.

That said, I only want Dragons to return if it makes sense within the context of the story and the setting of the game.  In my opinion, the worst thing they could do, artistically, is include them merely for some cheap and easy fan service.

but you know the will if they think it will boost sales,

Yes, that's entirely possible, they've done it before. They added a wannabe-Morrowind "alien" landscape to Oblivion with Shivering Isles (complete with mushroom trees) when fans complained that Cyrodiil wasn't as alien-looking as Vvardenfell.  And I consider the Dragonborn DLC to be basically fan service for Morrowind fans as well (even including music from the older game).

But I'm willing to put up with a bit of fan service, if it doesn't become too obnoxious.  I even think that, if it is done right, a thing can be artistically valid and function as fan service at the same time.

The Dragons were really impressive adversaries in Skyrim. It will not be easy to find something comparable for the next ES. They could of course try it with impressive storytelling. :lmao:
