I always get on very well with Hert and Hern.  I admit the remains in their woodshed are somewhat disturbing, but I have never felt threatened by either of them.  On the other hand, I wouldn’t sleep under their roof either!  Shame I end up having to kill Hern..I do not wish to, but business is business.

Yeah like most DB quest you never really know who had it in for Hern.  Seems like a nice guy.

I've never spoke to them while my character was a vampire.  Wonder if they say anything different.

That is something I have still not done, play as a vampire in Skyrim, did once in Morrowind but got myself cured. Could be interesting to find out what happens with interactions with npc’s.

Well I've done it, though IMO it makes you NOT a hero anymore and you're just role-playing a vampire at that point.  But the NPC's don't seem to notice, not even after DG made all the vampires look like nasty trolls.  Course I added a mod to fix that since it made no sense NPC's wouldn't notice your split face and red eyes.

I think in Morrowind you became persona non grata the longer you stayed a vampire unless you upped your charisma I believe it was a long time ago so I could be wrong on the details but it was a more impactful than what you describe.

Well in Morrowind being a vampire (or werewolf with the expansion) was a curse, as it should be.  It was something you really didn't want, but could.  I recall there were also different clans of vampires you could join that gave different benefits.  The cure for being a werewolf though, I still have bad feels about that.  IMO Morrowind did it right.  With Skyrim it's more like having a perk.

I remember in Morrowind seeing my character getting a more pallid complexion as the vampire transformation developed. In the beginning you could still go almost any where but as time passed people started treating you in a more hostile way. If they went back more to the play style in Morrowind using modern technology they could be on a to a winner.
