MWEdit is an open source replacement for the Morrowind Construction set that was originally written by Dave Humphrey about twenty years and has since been updated by rfuzzo and NimrodPSI

	I picked up the torch a few months ago and started doing work on it myself and my fork is hosted here while ongoing dev discussion has been occurring here

	My primary focus initially is on cleaning up the code and modernizing it. With it being twenty years old, there are a lot of areas of it that can be improved based on current C++ practices and the current standard. Other areas of interest are on making it work cross-platform and general improvements. One such goal is I hope to eventually transition the GUI over to gtkmm, which will help with the cross-platform aim.

	That said, we now have a release! After close to twenty years, I've just bundled up version 0.6.3, which includes various changes from all four projects that haven't been released thus far.

	Here's the full changelog:

- Fix some encoding issues [deathssoul]
- Fix some special characters in Functions.dat and customfunctions.dat [deathssoul]
- Reformat the code for better consistency [deathssoul]
- Set up build automation on GitHub [deathssoul]
- Update README.md [deathssoul]
- Convert Features.txt to Markdown [deathssoul]
- Correct line endings [deathssoul]
- Windows API updates [rfuzzo]
- Update project to newer Visual Studio versions [rfuzzo, NimrodPSI]
- Fixed a bug in the magic effect's RGB data [NimrodPSI]
- Added missing magic effects from Bloodmoon and fixed Tribunal's effect [NimrodPSI]

	As always, I welcome assistance! Any help would be appreciated but, in particular, my deficiencies lie in documentation, release engineering, and Windows development but, again, all are more than welcome

Last year I started a discussion about using BOSS in Morrowind and my intentions was to have the same system we have for both Oblivion, Skyrim, meaning the usage of bash tags with MW mods.

After a few posts I notice that the discussion won't be nice a least what I felt back then, so I decided to request a lock and skip such discussions in the future a least I are not interested to start a new discussion.

Perhaps I've misjudged everything, but so be it and I can lived with that.

The way I see it and to accomplish this is to have TES3Edit (derived from the source code of TES4Edit which TES5Edit is based on IIRC) available for mod users plus having a completely new version of Wrye Mash, because the development of Wrye Mash is minimal a least what I know of and I don't know if Melchor (haven't been around for 2½ years now) has made any progress at all.

I searched for "BOSS" on Morrowind.Nexus and this was the only thing I could find via searching of course and not via browsing through all mod pages.

What do you think is it possible to achieve this?

	I notice a Spell casting thread on Nexus and after I read it, the OP are using Linux, hence my question.

	Has anyone thought about providing instructions for Morrowind, including various of mod user tools e.g Morrowind Code Patch, Wrye Mash etc, when running Linux instead of Windows?

	Just curious of why there is not a RELz thread posted, at least there once were, for Arthmoor's Ashlander Transport mod.

	Anyway, today when I continue my game and was just about to head north from Maar Gan, I thought to take the transport directly to Urshilaku Camp, but if I do that then I would miss what makes Morrowind an awesome game and that's the challange to goto all way from Maar Gan to the Urshilaku Camp through the Ashlands by foot and not using an easy transportation directly to Urshilaku Camp from Maar Gan.

	Later, however, I can if I wish to take the transport from Maar Gan to Urshilaku Camp and it was then I realized that I got an idea. So I thought to post my idea here, but after I notice there was no RELz thread posted or is it just removed due for being an old mod and most people doesn't seems to play it these days.

	Alright, here is my idea. When talking to the NPC, standing outside of Maar Gan, for the first time he would like to know if the player is capable to cure blight disease and common disease or not, because he is not interested to take a passager on a trip through the Ashlands then the passager got infected by a disease, especially a blight disease. If the NPC let that happen then it's bad business, so the player might need to walk all way from Maar Gan to the Urshilaku Camp the first time.

	But after the player have done that, by talking to both the NPC just south of the Urshilaku Camp and the NPC in Maar Gan, then the NPC in Maar Gan will gladly transport the player to Urshilaku Camp as long the player pays the transport fee.

	As for mod compatibility, yes it is compatible for most mods including Rise of House Telvanni (RoHT), Uvirith's Legacy (UL), Princess Stomper's Nerevarine Yurt mod (I think there is a RELz thread for that mod on old BSF).

	Just a few minutes ago I was trying to help a Morrowind player on Nexus and it seemed the member had the retail version, so I thought why not add a link to the official patches.

	However, after I searched a little I was surprised to see that Bethesda doesn't seem to care about Morrowind anymore, which I think is a disgrace after all Morrowind was the game that saved Bethesda from a disaster IIRC.

	Now, I dunno what to think about Bethesda and after they closed down the old forum then they moved everything over to Bethesda.net with a forum software that nobody like at least not me, so things have started to go straight downhill lately and that worries me a lot.

	I also searched for the official patches on MMH and only found 4-5 entries of the Bloodmoon, but I didn't find the official Tribunal patch and I'm gonna to upload it to MMH later after I got a few hours of sleep (I'm too tired now and yet I cannot sleep).

	So my question is; Do you think Bethesda have forgotten Morrowind completely or am I missing something here?

	Hello all.

	I have not looked here for a long time (actually, the last time I logged in to my account at forums.bethsoft.com). I apologize if I am making a bumble through too general a thread.

	I decided to refresh the adventure from Morrowind in the near future. Specifically – along with my 2 brothers. I have a specific situation at home, that each of us likes a different style of play. I've always played an offensive magician (usually Altmer, sometimes Breton), my younger brother usually played a heavy-duty warrior with a long sword as a basic weapon (Redguard or Orc), and my youngest brother almost exclusively played a light-armed thief (Dunmer, short blade, security) with a small admixture of magic (enchantment for the effective use of enchanted items, some alchemy).

	To refresh the adventure from Morrowind, of course in a very intensely modding version, I would need your help.

	I would like to get your advice and tips on current, best practices regarding the preparation of a fresh installation along with a very large number of mods. Of course, the mods will be different in my case as well as in the case of each of my brothers. An individual approach is not an obstacle here. I am not a novice in the world of Morrowind mods, but my break beyond the wonderful world of Vvardenfell was very long.

I would be grateful for advice on several aspects:

	(A) useful tips and tricks for preparing a fresh installation with a large number of mods (general and constructional issues regarding the new game);

	(B) tips and tricks for the use of external programs (modding administration, loading order, cleaning, fixing);

	(C) other mod advice, including information on interesting mods (and patches) that have been released or polished in the last 4 years (with the division into general purpose mods, mods for magicians, for warriors and for thieves).

I understand that the best practice for preparing a new game involves the following next steps:

	1) clean installation of Morrowind GOTY (outside the Program Files);

	2) application of Morrowind Code Patch v2.4 (4GB patch is no longer needed) + consider turning off some options: http://abitoftaste.altervista.org/morrowind/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=98&catid=45&Itemid=10&-Morrowind-Code-Patch-options-to-disable; -> this can also be done later.

	3) making a list of mods to install + download their latest versions;

	4) manual installation of individual mods (do not forget about the Morrowind Patch Project: 1.6.6) + always read the readme carefully

	5) tes3lint (https://github.com/mlox/mlox/tree/master/util/tes3lint) – checking each mods with tes3lint: searching for potential problems (including list of Evil GMSTs) + attempt to manually fix problems found (without taking into account these issues, which are automatically repaired by tes3cmd in next steps);

	6) tes3cmd (https://github.com/mlox/mlox/tree/master/util/tes3cmd or https://github.com/john-moonsugar/tes3cmd/releases?): clean mods using tes3cmd – automatically solve some of possible problems [tes3cmd.exe clean --replace --hide-backups "modname.esp"];

	7) TESTool: additional cleaning mods using TESTool v1.3 (“Clean ESP/ESM (save results in Clean subfolder)” + ON: "Don't change plugin filenames", "Retain file name when cleaning", "Restricted dialog cleaning" and "Restricted cell cleaning" + Execute button);

	8) Mlox 0.62 (https://github.com/mlox/mlox) – determining the load order of the active mods;

	9) tes3cmd: multipatch of mods using tes3cmd (with merge leveled lists) [tes3cmd.exe multipatch];

	10) MWSE installation (http://www.theassimilationlab.com/forums/topic/16287-morrowind-script-extender/) (if the mods need it);

	11) installation and configuration of MGE XE (https://bethesda.net/community/topic/51653/mge-xe-graphics-extender-release-and-support-thread/2, https://www.nexusmods.com/morrowind/mods/41102/ and https://github.com/Hrnchamd/MGE-XE/);

	12) play and enjoy

	I forgot something? The order should be different? Did I write something wrong?

Additional questions:

	I intend to use Wrye Mash (WMSA) to manage mods, load list and saves. I assume that it is currently best to use the Wrye Mash Standalone v87 Beta2 (https://github.com/Wrye-Code-Collection/Wrye-Mash/releases/tag/87b2, https://www.afkmods.com/index.php?/topic/5068-wipz-wrye-mash/), not the older versions: Wrye Mash 84 (originally from Wrye), WMSA by Melchor or WMSA by Yacoby. Is it correct?

	Is tes3cmd well integrated with the latest version of Wrye Mash (Wrye Mash Standalone v87 Beta2)?

	Does WMSA have any additional options that should be particularly used?

	Question about merging of leveled lists used in active plugins: should this be done via WMSA (Mashed Lists.esp), or via multipatch option from tes3cmd (multipatch.esp)? What are the differences? What is safer? [As I understand from WMSA readme, Merged_Leveled_Lists.esp (produced by TesTool) is unnecessary. It is also unnecessary to use the Leveled List Resquencer tool.]

	Question about merging objects: Should I merge objects in a game with many mods? If yes, using what tools? I saw MMOG (Morrowind Merged Objects Generator) – http://abitoftaste.altervista.org/morrowind/index.php?option=downloads&task=info&id=53&Itemid=50&-MMOG-Morrowind-Merged-Objects-Generator.

	EDIT: I have read: http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Tes3Mod:TESTool#Merge_Objects, http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1177482-best-practices-for-making-merged-objects/ and http://wiki.theassimilationlab.com/mmw/TESTool#Merged_Objects. I understand that I should always do the merging objects, except for mods, whose authors explicitly advise against such an activity (see also the rules in Mlox). Currently, it is best to use MMOG.

	Cleaning saved game: What tools should I use? I saw tes3cmd getitemcount strip tool (http://abitoftaste.altervista.org/morrowind/index.php?option=downloads&task=info&id=84&Itemid=50&-tes3cmd-getitemcount-strip-tool).

	Do you think I should put this thread also on The Assimilation Lab (http://www.theassimilationlab.com/forums/forum/446-the-elder-scrolls-iii-morrowind/)?

	EDIT: TAL - http://www.theassimilationlab.com/forums/topic/16382-morrowind-fresh-installation-with-many-mods-the-order-of-steps-and-tips-for-managing-mods/

	Thank you in advance for your advises and help.

	I know Fliggerty have been working on the Mod History 2.0 site for over 3 years now and below is a quick summary about the Mod History 2.0 for some people who doesn't know the background about the Mod History 2.0.

	2011 - Public debute of the new Morrowind Modding History site

	2011 - Launched the new Skyrim mod hosting site called The Holds of Skyrim (THoS) which are now temporarily a defunct site

	2012 - Posted an announcement at BSF about creating a Oblivion Modding History site (sorry no link since the forum search there had been broken for a VERY long time)

I had just launched Morrowind and once loaded, I decided to show the credits by clicking the "Credits" option in the in-game menu.

After a while it came to the Additional Programming section I think, then the graphics started to be messed up and a few seconds later I got a CTD.

Below is my DXdiag and my current Nvidia driver is up to date.

If it matters I also use MGE-XE 0.10.0 and I haven't got a single problem so far. I almost forgot to mention, I do have Sir Bob's DarkUI 3.5 installed. Could that be what's causing a CTD?

This thread is about what is discussed here, well my last post is more or less off topic, so I decided to start this thread to continue the discussion about modding that trigger engine bugs.

I've made some observations of a couple of things for the last 5 years and that include Morrowind, Oblivion and possibly in Skyrim too.

About 5 years ago I started to learn of how to use Wrye Bash and rebuilt my first bashed patch, which is essential for a modded Oblivion.

Anyway, back then I use both Arthmoor's Alternate Start mod and Emma's Companion Vilja mod. I started a new game and pick one of 8 or 9 starting locations in Arthmoor's mod then I went to the location there Vilja was waiting and as soon I step in I notice that she was nude WTF.

I also checked other NPC's Jauffre, Martin and they was also nude then I started to think, why are these NPC's nude and for unknown reason they are.

After a while I realized that the starting location I picked in Arthmoor's mod gave me a robe (in Oblivion, a robe makes it *impossible* to wear pants without a mod), so I started a new game and pick a different starting location and this time I wanted to be a member in the Fighter's Guild. So when I could look around I notice I had both armor and weapon in my inventory, so I went to meet Vilja a second time and now she was NOT nude.

Again, I checked both Jauffre and Martin and they wasn't nude. Why wasn't she nude this time when she was nude in my previous game?

That's what I've had observed in Oblivion, but like I said I have at least one similar observation in Morrowind and that's about using Pluto's excellent quest mod The Sable Dragon along with another Dark Brotherhood themed mod.

So what has Pluto's mod to do with a Dark Brotherhood themed mod, as Pluto said he was using a hood with an unique ID. I check his mod in CS and found that every body parts had an unique ID, except for these body parts.

The unique ID in his mod is "man_Dark Brotherhood_<body parts>" and from what I understand there are four ID's with the "man_Dark Brotherhood_<body parts>" ID name in Pluto's The Sable Dragon mod.

Not able to find Forearm part in A_DarkBrotherhood_Pauldron_FA.
Not able to find Forearm part in A_DarkBrotherhood_Pauldron_FA.
Not able to find Knee part in A_DarkBrotherhood_F_Greav_K.
Not able to find Knee part in A_DarkBrotherhood_F_Greav_K.
Not able to find Upper Leg part in A_DarkBrotherhood_F_Greav_UL.
Not able to find Upper Leg part in A_DarkBrotherhood_F_Greav_UL.
Not able to find Clavicle part in A_DarkBrotherhood_Pauldron_CL.
Not able to find Clavicle part in A_DarkBrotherhood_Pauldron_CL.
Not able to find Forearm part in A_DarkBrotherhood_Pauldron_FA.
Not able to find Forearm part in A_DarkBrotherhood_Pauldron_FA.

These untouched body parts, as it seems, may trigger an engine bug that makes the Warnings.txt be spammed (the spammed Umbra journal update comes to mind) with these error messages everytime I wanted to play until it's fixed.

Now you may wonder what has a Morrowind mod to do with Oblivion mods and the only logic explanation I can think of is that untouched body parts in a mod could trigger an engine bug like this.

A spammed Warnings.txt for Morrowind

Untouched body parts in Oblivion will make NPC to be nude

Does this make any sense to you?

Also note that there is nothing wrong with Pluto's mod or the other Oblivion mods and to my knowledge all mods are safe to use. Thanks for reading.

Is this the part of the forum to ask about this or should i put this in the mod section?

I am farily experienced with modding and making mods for both Oblvion and Skyrim but have not used the CS for Morrowind yet but plan to start.

My hope is to get MGSO working with the best and most detailed textures replacers and such set up, with the dynamic shadows and more. I found MGSO 3.0 but not the patch 3.1 as it looks like Ornithoper and the forum for support are gone along with the link for 3.1.

any advice ..where to find mods and more much appreciated as i see many of the older sources for Morrowind mods are gone now.

I have a lot stored on disk but would love to have advice if anyone has the time. and hello and thanks for htis forum and community. I will share some of my mod work as i get my feet here ..and look forward to seeing what others are doing here.

Recently I had everything working as intended and when Sharlikran posted this I got excited to try that out, so I did and got Yacoby's WMSA working.

However after a while I notice there were too many bugs, so I decided to back to my previous setup for WMSA and at the same time I also reinstall Morrowind twice.

But now I simply cannot merge any leveled lists into the Mashed Lists.esp with all of this mods installed no matter what I do I can't do that, which has never happen before. Period!

Today I got an idea of how to merge dialogues into the Mashed Lists sort of a rumors leveled list for NPC's so to speak.

You have probably notice that many NPC have the same rumor depending where you're and talking to e.g Imperial guild members, Great House members (Hlaalu, Redoran, Telvanni, Indoril, only Dres with TR), Temple members etc.

Depending who you're talking to e.g what occupation they have will often say a common rumor like the latest rumor "Have you heard... <this or that>" or it could be local rumor and that's specific for a race like this.

Dunmer - Outlanders don't know how it is to be born and bred (disdainful to other races especially outlanders even to Dunmer raised outside of Morrowind)

Redguard - ...watch us in the thick of battle...

Nords - We are hardy people that love prowess in battle

Imperials - We love peace and prosperity, but we are not ashamed to use force if needed

I know there is a couple of races left to add and a couple of common rumors too, so if you know what race that have a specific dialogue then feel free and mention it for what race with what dialogue.

So how about having each rumor in a data string e.g the DIAL record in TESPCD then flag each NPC to use a specific dialogue (use an unique ID) like a common rumor "Miles Glorious is right now in Maar Gan on a crusade to fight corpus monsters, but he have always time to chat with an admirer." or similar regardless what race is saying that when the player wants to know what's the latest rumors.

I know it's a lot work to be done, but I wonder. Is it feasible to have a rumor leveled lists for NPC's merged into the Mashed Lists.esp?

Someone on GHF posted a question about PyFFi meshes for Morrowind and I don't know if anyone have done that before, so I thought why not ask here if anyone know.

Is it possible to PyFFi meshes for Morrowind in the same way you do with meshes for Oblivion?
