Free Coffee and Tea 1.1.0

About This File

FREE COFFEE AND TEA

Waking up in the morning I like a good cup of black coffee and a self-rolled sigaret with heavy tobacco. In game I can get the coffee (or tea) for free in The Coffee House near Vulnotjaar's burial mound. But when I am far from The Coffee House I have to do without.

A free cup of black coffee and tea in all of Skyrim's inns and taverns, including The Ragged Flagon in Riften and The Retched Netch in Raven Rock on Solstheim. Near the fireplaces you will find a coffeepot (copper) and a teapot (iron) and upon activating you will receive a cup of coffee or tea free of charge. The innkeepers may sell you the more exquisite types of coffee and tea: coffee with milk, café latte, cappuchino, canis root tea, lavender tea and mugwort tea.

I thought about growable coffee- and teaplants, but Skyrim's climate is too cold for those plants. Instead, you can buy sacks of roasted coffee beans and tealeaves from the Khajiit caravans, each consisting of 10 portions of beans or leaves. Your inventory will only show 10 bowls of coffeebeans or tealeaves after buying a sack. Roasted coffee beans and tea leaves are considered food and can be sold to innkeepers and apothecaries (for a nice profit).

On the bar/counter you may find a coffee grinder, a bowl of coffee beans and a bowl of tea leaves. These objects are all statics.

What's New in Version 1.1.0

Released

Due to errors using the Archiver within the Creation Kit, the BSA file from the previous version may have missing files or the wrong files. I have made some small changes to the original and created a new BSA file using PackItUp - The BSA Packer PowerShell Script v1.0.

Very nice, Altbert! Lore friendly and oh so perfect for your OF friends. Thanks.
I'll download now but it will be awhile 'til I get back to Skyrim. I haven't even had a chance to give the Coffee House mod a go through.

There is always one! I get the static grinder and stuff appearing on the bar. But I do not get any pots near the fire.  I did ESPFE the mod, so it is probably my fault. However I can't see anything in the ESP that would prevent it working.  I do use JK's Interiors, and ensured the mod is loaded after those.

The Activator for the Coffee Pot doesn't seem to point to Stroti's coffee pot, either.   stroti\KitchenToolsStatic\Coffeepot01_ST.nif  in the ESP is not reflected in the mod's meshes.  There is only the CookingPot01_ST.nif.

I'll download Stroti's mod and see if that works.

Any ideas for how I can get mine working gratefully received. Thanks!

I've checked the BSA file, but in the ESP both the coffee- and teapot refer to Coffeepot01_ST.nif and the pathing to the mesh in the BSA is correct, although I gave one the copper and the other the iron look texture. It works fine for me, also in the expansion for the Inns and Taverns mod. I don't use JK's interiors and haven't eslified the mod(s).

Do you use a mod that places a cooking pot at the fireplace?

BSA?  Oh.  Perhaps I have an older version? My download is loose files.

Let me download again and double check!

And - nope, it is still loose files.   I do have a couple of retexture files for cooking but none touch Stroti's objects.

Here's what I get from the freshly downloaded file. There is no BSA. The ESP points to this folder, but the NIF is not the same.  I could rename the NIF but the cooking pot is a large big round pot?   I could not find a coffee pot in any of Stroti's resources.

I have to admit that you are completely right, although I have no clue what went wrong. I have probably created an archive from within the Creation Kit, but extracted the BSA again and uploaded the 7z file with loose files. Since a few months I am using PackItUp! to create BSA files. I'm preparing an update, which you will find attached. Still wondering why nobody else has reported issues, while being downloaded over 100 times.

The CK archiver has given me problems, the reason why I'm using PackItUp! now.FreeCoffeeAndTea.7z

EDIT: I have checked the CK archivelist for a new mod I'm working on. Creating the archivelist in the CK seems very unreliable, but I have no idea if that is caused by CK 2.0 or by the CK Fixes. But in this check I have noticed that 3 scripts were missing, and numerous meshes and textures were added which are unnecessary as vanilla assets were used.

Many thanks for the update! I'll install and let you know if I encounter any problems.  I'm just restarting my restarted restart of Skyrim AE (as one does) so it's a good time to update. I look forward to that free tea and coffee!

Thanks. If it runs fine for you I will update the main file. I've made various changes to the first version of the mod.

Hi

I tested the mod out and discovered the problem remains the same.  The Activator Model in the ESP is a NIF that doesn't exist (Coffeepot01_ST.nif ).

So I copied over Teapot01_ST  from Stroti's Kitchen Tools for Skyrim SE\meshes\Stroti\KitchenToolsStatic\    and placed it into your meshes\Stroti\KitchenToolsStatic\ , then altered the ESP Activator Model to point to this NIF.

After that - it worked perfectly. I got two pots by the tavern fires: one bronze (coffee) and one silver (tea). The activators worked fine.

The only other question I have (which is a daft one but bear with me...)  in the BSA do you need the Mod Name and the Data folders?

By the way, I can confirm the mod works in ESPFE format.

The icing on the cake would be to have an animation for drinking from a coffee cup, and I believe Animated Eating Redux has a coffee cup mesh.

Hope this helps!

Thank you very much, Bluegunk! i will make the changes and update the mod. The BSA file has to have the same name as the ESP, but of course with different extension: FreeCoffeeAndTea.esp and FreeCoffeeAndTea.BSA. The BSA file includes all relevant folders in the Data folder, but not the Data folder itself. The BSA should refer only to the meshes, textures and script folders.

Thanks again! It's very much appreciated!

EDIT: The new version 1.1.0 has just been uploaded.

Nice mod!  Frankly for what these inns charge, they should be giving out free breakfast as well!
