NewBackground2.thumb.png.dd11ef94fcca51eba9431d39c8232a08.png

Welcome to the new and improved Gruffydd's Signs and Posters!

GS&P is a Fallout 4 mod that adds more than 900 custom signs, posters, and a few other items, all available in your settlement menus.

You'll also get every vanilla sign or poster I could find, now merged in with GS&P. Formerly, these were in the Signs of the Times add-on mod. Those signs and posters, along with a bunch more newly added, are now all in one plugin for this mod.

So how does it work?

GS&P is now in modular format. This means that you will need the base mod (GruffyddSandP), and then can pick and choose which of the plugins you want to add on. All of the plugins are flagged as .esl, so they won't count against your mod limit.

Just choose the ones you want, along with the base mod. Be sure to install SMM (Settlement Menu Manager) first, though, as this mod uses SMM to add a separate menu, with the stuff inside sorted into different subfolders to reduce scrolling and make it easier to find objects.

Some of the plugins are chock full of stuff, others not so much. It was designed to be expanded later, as I have time to create more stuff. This especially applies to the different factions. Right now the only one I've done a lot on is the Minutemen, but others will come later.

What plugins are included?

Added Settlements - New settlement signs - generic, BoS, Institute and Minutemen - for more than a score of new non-vanilla settlement locations. These are locations that are either obvious choices or ones that were specifically requested, and are for use with mods that add new settlement locations or that allow you to select or create your own.

Businesses Contains everything that relates to a place of business that isn't included in another category.

ChurchGraveHolidays - A catch-all for anything that might include religious stuff. Churches, graveyards, posters related to holidays, that kind of thing. I got a request from someone a while back to add some items for their religion because it was so underrepresented (as in non-existent) within the vanilla game. I did, and also added in a couple of items for other religions. If you want something added, let me know. If the whole thing offends you, just don't use this module.

Community - All of the community assets, things that a settlement would see as a common resource. Things like schools, a community greenhouse, a community pool, a crafting hall, and a community notice board.

Entertainment - All things entertaining. Music, movies, clubs, billiards, and so on.

FactionsBrotherhood - Everything relating to the Brotherhood of Steel.

FactionsInstitute - Everything relating to the Institute.

FactionsMinutemen - Everything relating to the Minutemen. In addition to generic stuff, there are items added to support three different visions of the Minutemen. The first is a benevolent communal effort, where everyone pitches in to help create a better wasteland. Optimistic if possibly naive. This is what Preston seems to be wanting, as far as I can tell. The second is a militia, organized along military lines. It's there to protect people and settlements and to fight off or eliminate threats. Everything else is up to the settlers to deal with. This is more like what the pre-Quincy Minutemen were, like the ones at the Castle. The third is a dystopian version, where the Minutemen are just as corrupt as any of the "bad guy" factions. The General rules with an iron fist, and dissidents vanish in the middle of the night, taken for "re-education".

FactionsRailroad - Everything relating to the Railroad.

FactionsOther - Anything that's a faction that's not one of the "big four". This includes raiders, atom cats, enclave, gunners, and so on. Right now this is very sparse, but I'll add stuff later, especially if anything specific is requested.

FoodAndDrink - If it relates to food or drink production or distribution and doesn't fit in one of the more specific plugins (ex: Community Greenhouse) it's in here.

GenericAndMiscellaneous - All of the generic signs and other stuff that didn't fit in any of the other categories.

GenericSettlements - All of the settlement signs that aren't affiliated with a faction. If you want the faction versions, they're in the faction plugins.

Graffiti - Various images and text designed to be "spray painted" onto a wall or similar surface. Includes a craftable spray paint object that is needed to make any graffiti. Don't worry, it's easily crafted.

LawAndSafety - Everything related to law and safety. Police/sheriff stuff, warning signs, signs welcoming or warning off certain types of people, that kind of thing.

Lodging - Anything that relates to a place where you can stay. Mostly hotels and motels.

Vintage - Real-world stuff old enough to be out of copyright that doesn't fit in one of the other categories. At this point, it's all WWI and WWII propaganda posters that I thought would go well with the overall theme of the game, set up to look worn and faded.

In addition, there are three other plugins that are "finished", in that I don't expect to be updating them.

SignsOfTheTimes - All the stuff from the old Signs of the Times mod, plus a bunch of other vanilla signs and posters that I found and added. If you're looking for a vanilla sign or poster, it's probably in here.

VegaOne - All of the stuff designed by guest artist VegaOne.

MurkwaterOil - All of the stuff created for a specific build someone wanted to make at the Murkwater settlement location.

Pick the ones you like, leave out the ones you don't. It's that easy.

What do I need to do to install it?

NMM Community Edition: Use the Install From File function (a yellow puzzle-piece looking thing on the left side of your screen).

Vortex: Drop it into the area at the bottom for manually installing mods.

MO2: I don't use it myself, but I've had reports that people using the current version of MO2 have had no problems with manually installing this mod. If you for some reason do, please try a completely manual install (placing the files where they need to be manually, without using MO2, then activating the mod in MO2 once everything is where it needs to be).

Something Else: Heck if I know. There's all sorts of stuff out there, I guess. Read the manual for your mod organizer, and see what it says about manual installs.

No matter how you install it, you will need Settlement Menu Manager (SMM) for this to work, so install that first! Be sure to follow the installation instructions for SMM, or it might not load the mod correctly!

A few addendums:

1) There are probably a few items that are in the wrong category. If you notice one, please let me know. I'll move any identified to their proper location when I get the chance.

2) I haven't figured out how to pack these as ba2 yet. All the tutorials make it sound easy, but it just doesn't want to work for me, and I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. If anyone has a tutorial that shows explicitly how to do it, and is willing to share it, I would love to see it. For the time being, these are all loose files (just as has always been the case with GS&P).

3) If there's something you'd like to see added, ask. I may not include everything requested, but if it appeals to me or sounds like a reasonable addition, I'll see what I can do. All that I ask is to please be specific. Don't say "can you add more Enclave stuff". Ask for specific items.

This mod has taken many, many hours to make, and future updates will take many, many more. If you enjoy this mod and feel like saying thanks by buying me a beverage, or just chipping some cash my way, please check out my Patreon, which you can get to with the link in the icons below. It's pretty bare bones, because I spend my creative time here on the mod, not on Patreon, but know that if you do choose to support me, it's greatly appreciated!

You're very welcome! There's a bunch of new stuff hidden away throughout this update, so be sure to look through those menus for anything new that might catch your fancy. Too much stuff to list, really. :)

Just a reminder, if you're using this mod and something isn't working right please let me know so I can try to fix it. And if it's working smoothly for you, please let me know that as well. I still have a very limited list of confirmations that it's working.

Thanks!

So far so good!  I'll share some screenshots once I get the settlement full dressed up!

Every single sign except the notice board is just some metal texture and nothing is working to fix it

That's the default texture when the material replacers aren't working. Odds are one of your folders is in the wrong spot or got renamed. What method did you use to install?

Really love the visual storytelling these signs allow. I am curious, though, the Tyranical Minutemen signs, which Ministry handles what, do you guys reckon?

Well, of course what each one does is really whatever you think it does for your particular playthrough.

But what I had in mind when I made them (mostly in the classic doublespeak that the most vile of real-world regimes tend to use)...

Ministry of Education: The group charged with rounding up dissidents and taking them away for "re-education". Torture, brainwashing, and so on.

Ministry of Labor: The group charged with ensuring that all under the Minutemen's control are working the required number of hours toward whatever is the current goal. Work camps, quotas, and so on.

Ministry of Order: The "secret" police. Not so secret, really. Everyone knows about them, everyone fears them. And when a whole household disappears in the middle of the night, it's often their logo found on the door the next morning.

Ministry of Peace: The war department. Charged with fighting and possibly exterminating any who threaten the General's rule. Ghouls, supermutants, raiders, other factions, whoever poses - or might in the future pose - a threat.

Ministry of Resources: Charged with "requisitioning" supplies needed to keep the Minutemen running. Even if it means the common people do without.

Ministry of Science: One of the few that really is what it says. In charge of scientific research. Probably working on advanced weapon technology, powered armor, that kind of thing. They'd love to get their hands on an Institute lab.

Ministry of Truth: Propaganda. Lies. Distortions. Doublespeak. Media control. It's either run by Piper or she was the first casualty. Either way Publick Occurences is their primary mouthpiece, along with whatever radio they control.

Ministry of Wellness: Charged with ensuring the purity of the citizens. Those who become tainted, whether by radiation, FEV, disease, or whatever, are eliminated to preserve resources and ensure a healthy citizenry. Also likely disposes of the aged, infirm, or disabled.

So, yeah, some scary stuff, which unfortunately is mostly taken straight from the real world.

By the way, the motto, Per Ducis Imperium, is the closest I could get (not actually knowing the language) to something cool and foreboding sounding in Latin for "By the General's command". And yes, I often had visions of 1980s Cylons going through my head while typing it.

Damnit, I just noticed that on the flag it's missing an I, and says imperum rather than imperium. I didn't catch it until just now. *sigh* I'll get that fixed at some point in the future here.

Pretty much what I expected.

Combined your mod with Militarized Minutemen, Sim Settlement and America Rising. This is now a very bleak game about war between four Tyranical regimes...

Hmm, There are a few mods with Talon Company imagery, I might use those for the secret police uniform. Matches the Imperium logo...

Been having some bother with that default metal texture showing, looks like I've got everything working except a couple assets in Signs of the Times. Bigger issue, the category for settlement signs has vanished. I installed everything with Vortex.

Let me know which signs and I'll check the paths on my end to see if it's something I need to fix or something on your end of things.

Which settlement signs? The generic ones or something faction specific?

The Generic ones I assume? The category that has a sign for each settlement, there could be more missing that I don't remember. I'll post again with missing signs when I can.

Found a loas of settlement name signs in Wall Signs, I assume they're the ones I thought were missing? or is there another category of free standing name settlement signs somewhere?

Missing sign textures are Small Signs DIA wall seal 2 (missing all texture entirely, shows as pink/purple), Road Signs parking and Wall Signs Tiki Motel. Thought there were more when last I was on but I can live without those if it's an issue on my end.

Another problem cropped up. The vault signs, most of the 2a + ones show fine but the words on 1a + rarely show up, I just see empty signs with no words.

New question: What is the story of the Murkwater oil signs? Pre-war company that survived the war?

On checking my files, you are quite right on the Parking and Tiki Motel signs. I'll get those fixed as soon as I can.

The DIA Logo 02 sign was still pointing at the old file location. I'll get that changed asap as well.

I'm not sure what's going on with the vault signs. They were working for me before, and now when I checked they're acting up as you are describing. Which is weird because it's the same base meshes just with material replacers. I'll look into that and see what I can figure out, but that one may take longer to fix as I am not immediately seeing what the problem is.

For settlement signs, they're scattered throughout the menus. There should be a settlement signs section in:

Gruffydd > Ground and Roof > Ground and Roof Signs > Settlements > Other Settlements

Gruffydd > Wall > Wall Signs > Settlements

Gruffydd > Factions > Brotherhood of Steel > BoS Settlements

Gruffydd > Factions > Institute > Institute Settlements

Gruffydd > Factions > Minutemen > MM Settlements

Gruffydd > Factions > Other Factions > Other Faction Settlements

Honestly I have no idea. :)

I made those on request by someone on my Patreon. He wanted it for a very specific build he was putting together for some kind of contest he was having with some group he was a part of. I think. It's been a while, and he dropped off the planet shortly after I finished the signs, as far as I can tell.

Because it doesn't really fit in except in very specific build concepts, I put it in its own separate plugin, but I figured why waste all that work? If someone has a use for it, it's there for them. Anything I made as part of it that wasn't specific to the company (ex: a bunch of safety signs) are merged in with the regular parts of the mod, so it's only the stuff that directly references the company that are in the separate plugin.

My recommendation is, if you like any of it, come up with your own story to fit.

Hi there!

First of all, this collection of signs is awesome. I've had a couple small issues (A Minuteman General sign is all purple, and the Generic/Miscellaneous signs described earlier are also glitched for me, but I'm reinstalling those and seeing if that fixes it), but this is one of the best mods for ambience I've seen lately. Made a profile here specifically to download your work.

Edit: Reinstalling didn't work.

Since you're generous enough to take requests, I have a couple I'd like to ask of you, if you don't mind.

I'd love it if you could make some of your themed signs for other territories that aren't settlements in the base game, but were added as settlements by mods, such as Concord, Quincy, Lexington. It would also be amazing if you could make some Raider/Gunner Graffiti that can be applied to the signs to indicate a community has been taken over.

Would it be possible to make the kinds of name plates that you see for desks, with various themes (eg: General, Quartermaster, Lieutenant, Comms Officer, Captain for Minutemen, Director for Institute, Overseer, Head of Security, Head Engineer for Vault-Tec, Paladin, Knight, Scribe for Brotherhood, Overboss for Raiders [Seriously, can I please have an Overboss name plate?], Mayor, Receptionist, Sheriff, Chief for generic settlements)? The name plates themselves don't need to be themed a certain way, just wanted to break them up to show what I was looking for.

 Receptionist Wood Desk Block

Also, while this is a bit different than what you've done so far, would it be possible to include mods of the Neon letters that come in the Wasteland Workshop pack that are larger and smaller than the ones we currently have? Somewhere in the range of .5-.75 for the smaller ones and 1.5-2.0 for the larger ones? And would it also be possible to build neon sign "frames" that you can snap the letters into?

Something like the frame here? And possibly a vertical format?

Header-vector-based-neon_1600_1079_50.thumb.jpg.f1a6fd4fbd328d143f018aeabe9fc796.jpg

Hopefully none of this is out of the realm of possibility and piques your interest. I don't really have any priorities here, and frankly don't really have any illusions of any of this stuff being added. It's all just stuff I think would be cool to see in game, and hopefully you do too.

Thanks again for everything you've done so far!

If the menu structure is there, try putting the data manually into the appropriate spots in the Data folder. That should fix your sign issues. If it doesn't, please let me know specifically which signs aren't working, so I can check them on my end and make sure they are pathed correctly.

I usually don't do anything to work with another mod (other than sometimes a sign that references one when I particularly like the work - ex: the Snappy Housekits billboard, the Jenn's Cleaning Service poster, or the Yondergirl's Quilt Shoppe sign), because there are just so many variations out there. But I can probably make some generic settlement signs for those places. Which ones would you want other than Concord, Quincy, and Lexington?

I can probably do that. Honestly, I've never really looked at nameplates on desks. Where specifically would I find an example of one, so I can check to see what the ID is on it?

Unfortunately, probably not. Everything I make uses vanilla meshes because I don't know how to use Blender or any other such programs to edit them, and there's only so much you can do with them in NIFSkope. I have previously managed to do neon, but not in a new mesh, just as lighting on an otherwise normal sign (ex: Cat's Paw). If you'd like some specific signs like that I can probably work stuff in, but new meshes, especially with custom snap points, are beyond me at this time.

Hey, I was hoping someone could help. I cannot for the life of me get this mod to work. I used to have your stuff via Nexus and I absolutely loved it. Can't live without it tbh.

I'm using Vortex.

I installed SMM, then downloaded the files for this and installed them using the drag-and-drop in vortex. The menus just won't show up. I tried the fix menu feature, then did a clean uninstall of SMM and this mod, then did a clean re-install. No dice. I know it's getting installed, though, because when I reload the save I get the warning about 'items may not be present' from this mod specifically. So the files were there and accessed, but for some reason I couldn't get the menus to pop up.

I assume this is probably a SMM issue but I was hoping someone might be able to help.

Did you have SMM installed and working before installing this mod? You can't do them both at the same time, it has to be SMM then GS&P, because of the way the quest that triggers the menus works.

If that's not it, do you have any other mods that might alter the Decorations menu, that are loading after both SMM and GS&P?

Huge, HUGE props on this mod.  It adds such cool flavor to our builds (my wife and I both) and your hard work is very much appreciated.  Wondering specifically what you mean by this. Are you referring to the mesh / material / texture folders associated with the different sets?  We installed through Vortex where you can <Install from file>. Everything appears to be where it belongs but there are some sets that only show the base mesh.  For us both it is the businesses signs and shows the distressed metal mesh (thats what it looks like to me).  Thanks for the prompt feedback and we owe you a few cups of coffee in the near future!

No, you don't have to install all of them. You need to install the core mod, and then whichever of the modules have objects that you want to use.

No, there is not a combined version of this mod. There used to be, but it was getting too large, and there were logistical reasons it needed to be broken up into smaller pieces.

All but the core won't count against your mod limit. But if you really only want to have one mod, you can use FO4Edit to add the objects from the modules to the core mod. They all use that menu structure, so there shouldn't be much else you need to do.

First of of all, thanks for the mod! The amount of content is great and I really love using the signs. It must have been some work to put it all together,
That said, there are some that don't work, sometimes only a few within a category, sometimes a whole subcategory. In those cases, the shape of the sign is there but the sign's graphic isn't displayed correctly, Instead the surface shows some brown metal structure, which looks like some rusty shop front or something.
