Play on the XBox? This modular version is now available on Bethesda.net for XB1! Since all of the modules (not the core mod, but the plugin modules) are .esl, they shouldn't even count against your mod limit! Bethesda.net | Gruffydd's Signs and Posters - Modular Mod

NewBackground2.thumb.png.dd11ef94fcca51eba9431d39c8232a08.png

Welcome to the new and improved Gruffydd's Signs and Posters!

GS&P is a Fallout 4 mod that adds more than 900 custom signs, posters, and a few other items, all available in your settlement menus.

You'll also get every vanilla sign or poster I could find, now merged in with GS&P. Formerly, these were in the Signs of the Times add-on mod. Those signs and posters, along with a bunch more newly added, are now all in one plugin for this mod.

So how does it work?

GS&P is now in modular format. This means that you will need the base mod (GruffyddSandP), and then can pick and choose which of the plugins you want to add on. All of the plugins are flagged as .esl, so they won't count against your mod limit.

Just choose the ones you want, along with the base mod. Be sure to install SMM (Settlement Menu Manager) first, though, as this mod uses SMM to add a separate menu, with the stuff inside sorted into different subfolders to reduce scrolling and make it easier to find objects.

Some of the plugins are chock full of stuff, others not so much. It was designed to be expanded later, as I have time to create more stuff. This especially applies to the different factions. Right now the only one I've done a lot on is the Minutemen, but others will come later.

What plugins are included?

Added Settlements - New settlement signs - generic, BoS, Institute and Minutemen - for more than a score of new non-vanilla settlement locations. These are locations that are either obvious choices or ones that were specifically requested, and are for use with mods that add new settlement locations or that allow you to select or create your own.

Businesses Contains everything that relates to a place of business that isn't included in another category.

ChurchGraveHolidays - A catch-all for anything that might include religious stuff. Churches, graveyards, posters related to holidays, that kind of thing. I got a request from someone a while back to add some items for their religion because it was so underrepresented (as in non-existent) within the vanilla game. I did, and also added in a couple of items for other religions. If you want something added, let me know. If the whole thing offends you, just don't use this module.

Community - All of the community assets, things that a settlement would see as a common resource. Things like schools, a community greenhouse, a community pool, a crafting hall, and a community notice board.

Entertainment - All things entertaining. Music, movies, clubs, billiards, and so on.

FactionsBrotherhood - Everything relating to the Brotherhood of Steel.

FactionsInstitute - Everything relating to the Institute.

FactionsMinutemen - Everything relating to the Minutemen. In addition to generic stuff, there are items added to support three different visions of the Minutemen. The first is a benevolent communal effort, where everyone pitches in to help create a better wasteland. Optimistic if possibly naive. This is what Preston seems to be wanting, as far as I can tell. The second is a militia, organized along military lines. It's there to protect people and settlements and to fight off or eliminate threats. Everything else is up to the settlers to deal with. This is more like what the pre-Quincy Minutemen were, like the ones at the Castle. The third is a dystopian version, where the Minutemen are just as corrupt as any of the "bad guy" factions. The General rules with an iron fist, and dissidents vanish in the middle of the night, taken for "re-education".

FactionsRailroad - Everything relating to the Railroad.

FactionsOther - Anything that's a faction that's not one of the "big four". This includes raiders, atom cats, enclave, gunners, and so on. Right now this is very sparse, but I'll add stuff later, especially if anything specific is requested.

FoodAndDrink - If it relates to food or drink production or distribution and doesn't fit in one of the more specific plugins (ex: Community Greenhouse) it's in here.

GenericAndMiscellaneous - All of the generic signs and other stuff that didn't fit in any of the other categories.

GenericSettlements - All of the settlement signs that aren't affiliated with a faction. If you want the faction versions, they're in the faction plugins.

Graffiti - Various images and text designed to be "spray painted" onto a wall or similar surface. Includes a craftable spray paint object that is needed to make any graffiti. Don't worry, it's easily crafted.

LawAndSafety - Everything related to law and safety. Police/sheriff stuff, warning signs, signs welcoming or warning off certain types of people, that kind of thing.

Lodging - Anything that relates to a place where you can stay. Mostly hotels and motels.

Vintage - Real-world stuff old enough to be out of copyright that doesn't fit in one of the other categories. At this point, it's all WWI and WWII propaganda posters that I thought would go well with the overall theme of the game, set up to look worn and faded.

In addition, there are three other plugins that are "finished", in that I don't expect to be updating them.

SignsOfTheTimes - All the stuff from the old Signs of the Times mod, plus a bunch of other vanilla signs and posters that I found and added. If you're looking for a vanilla sign or poster, it's probably in here.

VegaOne - All of the stuff designed by guest artist VegaOne.

MurkwaterOil - All of the stuff created for a specific build someone wanted to make at the Murkwater settlement location.

Pick the ones you like, leave out the ones you don't. It's that easy.

What do I need to do to install it?

NMM Community Edition: Use the Install From File function (a yellow puzzle-piece looking thing on the left side of your screen).

Vortex: Drop it into the area at the bottom for manually installing mods.

MO2: I don't use it myself, but I've had reports that people using the current version of MO2 have had no problems with manually installing this mod. If you for some reason do, please try a completely manual install (placing the files where they need to be manually, without using MO2, then activating the mod in MO2 once everything is where it needs to be).

Something Else: Heck if I know. There's all sorts of stuff out there, I guess. Read the manual for your mod organizer, and see what it says about manual installs.

No matter how you install it, you will need Settlement Menu Manager (SMM) for this to work, so install that first! Be sure to follow the installation instructions for SMM, or it might not load the mod correctly!

A few addendums:

1) There are probably a few items that are in the wrong category. If you notice one, please let me know. I'll move any identified to their proper location when I get the chance.

2) I haven't figured out how to pack these as ba2 yet. All the tutorials make it sound easy, but it just doesn't want to work for me, and I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. If anyone has a tutorial that shows explicitly how to do it, and is willing to share it, I would love to see it. For the time being, these are all loose files (just as has always been the case with GS&P).

3) If there's something you'd like to see added, ask. I may not include everything requested, but if it appeals to me or sounds like a reasonable addition, I'll see what I can do. All that I ask is to please be specific. Don't say "can you add more Enclave stuff". Ask for specific items.

This mod has taken many, many hours to make, and future updates will take many, many more. If you enjoy this mod and feel like saying thanks by buying me a beverage, or just chipping some cash my way, please check out my Patreon, which you can get to with the link in the icons below. It's pretty bare bones, because I spend my creative time here on the mod, not on Patreon, but know that if you do choose to support me, it's greatly appreciated!

I think with these "Entering" signs, it catches me up with all of the requests that I'm able to do (sorry, still can't do custom neon meshes, Blender is not one of my skill sets). If anyone had requested something that hasn't been added or shown in this thread, please remind me.

Next weekend I'm going to try to put it all together into an update. A number of plugins are going to be updated with this one, so for simplicity you might just want to download all of them to be sure you've got everything (once I've got it all uploaded that is - don't jump the gun, the only thing added so far is Added Settlements). However, I will try to post a list of which plugins are modified, for those who want to just do the ones that have changed.

After that I'm probably going to take a bit of a break, as I have some other non-modding projects that need some of my attention. I'm so looking forward to retiring, so I'll have more time to put into my hobbies. 16 months and counting to my earliest possible retirement date (although it depends on my finances, so we'll see if I actually can, or if I'll need to keep working for another few years).

Oh, I still need someone to test the XB1 version to see if it works, so if anyone is willing, please let me know so I can activate the test files on Bethesda.net. Thanks!

Almost forgot about this one. Another shop sign.

This one is a reference to something from the Loki TV show. It's a big supermarket chain in one episode's alternate Earth.

Question about the giant update that appears to be incoming!

When it drops, will you let us know which modules have new content, or should we just redownload anything we use? I ask because like, say you did a giant Institute update, there'd be nothing I'd need to do because I don't use the Institute pack. But if you did one with a bunch of new restaurants, I'd want it.

Yes I'll be listing which modules have been updated. Any you don't use, you wouldn't need to download.

The exception is the core module, which should be downloaded any time it changes, as the change likely adds a new mesh that might be used later in a module you do use.

There have been a few hundred downloads, but no comments. Does that mean that all of the new content is working as intended?

I'm seeing a lot of downloads, but the only comments I've seen are from people having problems, or reporting a bug.

If some people who are successfully using this mod could please comment to let me know, I'd appreciate it. Otherwise it makes me wonder if there's something I need to fix.

Thanks!

I love this Mod!

Amazingly I installed Gruffydd's Signs and Posters using MO2 and everything worked perfectly!.

I also installed all associated plugins.

After that I decided to uninstall all the new plugins and reinstall it again but merging all modular plugins in the Main Mod Folder (GruffyddSandP) which I renamed to "Gruffydd's Signs and Posters Merged" to organize everything in a single folder at my MO2 left panel

Everithing is fine!

Kept working perfectly in the Workshop with its own category.

Of course I didn't test each poster and sign one by one, but I can say with certainty that the installation by MO2 didn't present any problem!

As far as I can tell! I am having problems with the Food and Drink module, but I think I just need to redownload it.

Love the Public Archive sign, sorry for being a bit late to the party for the new release. :) I did a quick left-to-right for everything and nothing looks amiss. Love the work as always!

I love these signs. I was doing a scan of my files, and found this had been updated. I'm so happy to see your updates.

If you're still shopping for ideas in the distant future after a long and deserved break, some other-than-Minutemen housing unit signs wouldn't go unappreciated for at least one nerd on the internet. More "Civilian Life" signage for the Brotherhood and Institute would be great as well. I think to the Althing signs for the Minutemen and designated signage for law and government, social services (as they are) and judicial authorities and so forth.

In typing this out I realized I've been completely missing that I could play around with a spin on "Village Elder" as a concept and a title and have it be thematically appropriate for local governance for a Brotherhood setting down roots of steel and laser. And there's already lovely desk placards for it...

Hi there! First of all, thanks for creating this amazing mod - I first installed it a few years ago, and loved the extra detail it added to my settlements.

Sadly, I can't seem to get it to work the second time around, having re-installed Fallout 4 on a fresh PC and gone through adding in mods. I thought I'd post here to see if anyone had any suggestions/you might know the solution.

I stupidly installed your mods (through Vortex) thinking I already had SMM installed and working - but I didn't (should have checked!). I then uninstalled your mods, installed SMM and confirmed it was active in-game, and then re-installed your mods - but I can't find them in-game at all. SMM is working because I have the holotapes and some other mod menus, but yours doesn't appear. I'm thinking I probably messed something up by initially installing them in the wrong order, but thought I'd ask if this is something you've seen before?

Thanks very much again

This definitely sounds like a problem with the order in which they were installed. As both SMM and my mod say, SMM has to be up and running first, or it doesn't work.

If I remember right, there's something in the FAQ or Readme for SMM that explains what to do to fix this. Sorry I don't have time to check right now, but I'm pretty sure you should find a solution there.

You just made my whole DAY. Ever since getting the Mercer Safehouse quest I have wanted to make a PROPER safehouse with a railsign on the gate, such a simple thing but yours is the only mod I could even find that makes it possible!
Within minutes I had the perfect gate sign... thanks so much!

Hey, loved this mod when it was on the nexus and am glad I found it here. I decided to skim through most of the signs and found three that have missing/broken textures. They were mostly pathing issues so I was able to fix them myself. Here's the problem items and how I fixed them to make it easier if you decide to patch it or if somebody wants these specific signs in the meantime.

GSP - MM The General from Minutemen module: Material for TheGeneral.nif incorrectly paths to GruffyddS&P\NorthEnd5.BGSM instead of GruffyddS&P\GS&P-FactionsMinutemen\NorthEndMinutemen1.BGSM. Fixed in NifSkope by correcting path.

GSP - Tiki Motel from Lodging module: Material swap for the static object incorrectly paths to GruffyddS&P\GS&P-Lodging\TikiMotel.BGSM instead of GruffyddS&P\GS&P-Lodgings\TikiMotel.BGSM. Fixed in FO4Edit. .BGSM file also has an extra 's' while pathing to the texture.

GSP - DIA Wall Seal 2 from Signs of the Times module: Nif for the DIA Wall Seal 2 paths to SoTS\RRDiaLogo02.BGSM. The material file seems to be missing from the module but found it in the old SoTS mod that's still up on this site. Copied the file over and kept the original path but you could also change it in the mesh to align with the current pathing structure.

I found and fixed the General and Wall Seal 2 issues (they'll go in next update), but I'm just not finding where Tiki Motel goes to GS&P-Lodgings instead of GS&P-Lodging. You said it was in the material swap, so we're talking about the .esl file, not the material itself, yes? I went through my copy, and everything looks right (no 's'). I did notice that the file in the folder that gets turned into the modules in 7z had an older update date than the one in my live folder, though, so I'm hoping the issue was that I just hadn't correctly replaced the older version with the current version. I replaced it, and hopefully this fixes it. Again, it will go in next update.

You've done a great job maintaining this, thanks!

I finally switched to the new versions with all the different plugins (esl flagged) and had no problems with the current version of MO2. All those individual plugins weren't a big deal; I don't merge workshop plugins since I wouldn't be able to export any blueprints correctly if I did that.

The only issue I've found so far is "The General" with the missing texture which you already know about.

So, thanks again Gruffydd!

Do I have to download all the files or just one?

Neither.

You need the base mod. Be sure to download it.

You can then choose which ones you want from the plugins, choosing at least one plugin.

So at minimum you need two.

Love your work, always have. Thanks so much for the work. For some time now I have not been able to play without your mod installed, and I use it every playthrough.

wish there was an all in one option, because I literally download everything every time.

I did have one question -- the Village Lanterne pub sign appears to be missing from the current version. It was in older versions pre modular, so I think maybe it got overlooked. There is a texture file for it but no implemented craft recipe/object per FO4Edit. I really like that sign a lot -- I use it as a safe house pub and hotel for my Railroad supporters because it's a nice play on their logo while being easily missed enough by everyone else. Is there any way we can get it back?

Also, I understand a lot of people have moved their mods from Nexus Mods, but I see you still have some content up there. Is it possible to upload this there too? I literally only got an account here for your one mod. Lol.

Thanks again for all the work! Love it, and love your content. :)

The Village Lanterne sign should be there. But it's a bed and breakfast not a pub so it might be in Lodgings. I'll check next time I'm on my computer.

The only content I left on the Nexus is the vanilla stuff. For everything else, I won't post there, for two primary reasons. The first is that I have serious issues with their treatment of authors' work, and their claim through their TOS to do anything they want with it for eternity once it's posted. The second relates to the first. The Nexus is now blatantly a commercial enterprise intended to make money. As such, posting my work there would violate a number of licenses on assets I use (mostly fonts), and would be problematic for some of my content such as the Sabaton, Omnia, and Reduced Shakespeare Company posters. So no, my files will not be uploaded there.

You were right. The Village Lanterne sign was inexplicably missing.

I have fixed that, and it will be back where it should be (in the Lodgings plugin) at the next update.
